Arrived!

I arrived in Iowa Friday night. We drove 1800miles in three days: Portland to Missoula, MT 12hours. Missoula,MT to Rapid City, SD 10 hours. Rapid City, SD to Council Bluffs, IA 10hours. CB to Iowa City, IA 4 hours.

Arriving here safe and sound with NO troubles during the trip. Priceless.

As corny as this sounds the minute we drove into Iowa City, I got the biggest grin on my face, and just felt home.

Now even though the trip smooth sailing, unloading the 26ft truck stuffed full or mine and julie's items AND her brother and sil's items: well that's a story for another day. Stick out tongue

  • Good luck on settling in! Take a look around Iowa City and see the damage of the flood last year. Last year a month after it happened we took our bikes out there, I was tearing up riding down the strip in Coralville and all the lights were out. The vine, the rugby pitch, Old Chicago, all gone and hallowed out and everything was dark and quiet. Kind of eerie and it made me really sad, especially Hancher Auditorium at U of I, where I walked across the stage to get my degree. I haven't been back since then, so let me know how far they have gotten! Welcome home!

  • OMGSH! Your are in Davenport?  Awesome! Anyways, yes the flood damage is out of control. We were married here in Iowa last August, and we were going to have the ceremony at the stage in City Park, however since that all flooded out, we had to make other arrangments! I'm soooo happy to be back, I didn't realize how much I loved 'simple' Iowa life, until it was gone, and I am very happy to have it back!

  • I love Iowa City and cannot wait to get back and go see the Hawkeyes play football! I would love to move to Iowa City myself, but I just got a job in Davenport with the federal government so I won?t be moving for awhile, its close though! Good luck settling in.
