Two Truths and a Lie

We have a work potluck tomorrow and one of our "team building" activities requires us to come prepared with two true statements and one false - then the group has to guess which is the lie.  I hate this kind of stuff, so I figured I'd try 'em out on you guys first ;)

1) I've seen Oprah in person on a number of occasions.

2) Speaking of celebrities, I've met one of my personal cooking idols - Rachel Ray

3) And staying on the topic of food, my all time favorite is lobster.

What's your guess?

Wanna play along? What are your two truths and a lie??

Re: Two Truths and a Lie

  • Okay, I really think #3 is the lie.  But I feel like you mentioned here once that you and A haven't been to Chicago before...which would make me think #1 is the lie.  Hmmmm.....  I guess #1

Now I have to think of some for me!

  • I'm going to vote #1...but only because I think that sometime in the ~3 years we've been chatting on the boards meeting Oprah would have come up at some point. Especially if you've met her multiple times.

ETA: I just re-read it and you said "seen" not "met" in reference to Oprah.  I suppose you could have caught a glimpse of her in NYC, the Cape, or even CT now and again.  Hmmm....

  • I am going to guess that you really don't like lobster...yeah, that's my guess *smile.*

Though you all don't know me that well, I am going to throw out three (and I will bet Christine can't guess the lie).

    I sat in Lucille Ball's make-up chair.

I was an extra once on a television series (I won't mention it as it might age me...hint hint).

I got in a bar fight once protecting the honor of someone I barely knew.

    ditto.

  • And as for me? #3 is the lie!  I'm actually not a fan of lobster at all.

#1 is quite true...Gayle King lived on my street growing up and I was friends with her kids!

lol - its been a looooong time since i've seen them (Gayle moved from our street when i was 12ish - i think). but i remember them all being very nice and polite - although a bit formal. if that makes sense.  At the time I thought they were the coolest people E.V.E.R b/c they had an elevator in thier house.

    1. As a kid, I had a total of 3 pet snakes.

    2. In college, I did not attend a single frat party.

    3. I took 4 years of Spanish classes and seriously considered becoming a Spanish teacher.

  • For N2A's, I really don't know which one is the lie, but I'll guess #1.

For Mrs._F, I'm going to guess that #2 is the lie.

Here are mine (no guessing, Sylvia!):
    1. I was in a sorority in college.

    2. I graduated high school when I was 16.

    3. I was in a movie with Vanessa Redgrave.

I can't believe it! C, you got it right, I was in Lucille Ball's dressing room, but was not allowed to sit in her chair. I still won't say which series I was an extra in ... Embarrassed

And yes, sadly, I was in a bar fight. I was dancing with this really nice lady (R) when this girl started yelling obscenities at her (come to find out, the woman had asked R to dance first and R said no...the woman was drunk). Next thing you knew someone pushed me from behind ... my friends jumped in and it was a free for all out on the dance floor! It was easy to play absolutely innocent when the police arrived, as my friends and I were (relatively) sober. It wasn't a proud moment...but I did get a phone number...Wink.

(It was a long time ago C!)

TWB - #3 is the lie

  • TWB guessed it Smile #2 is my lie (though just barely - I went to like 1.5 ha ha)

I had 2 little snakes named Romeo and Juliet, and after them, a slightly bigger one Petruchio (I had a serious Shakespeare phase, lol).

As for #3-- I was in "The Ballad of the Sad Cafe" when I was in my early teens. Just an extra role during the opening credits. I actually had been cast as Vanessa Redgrave's cousin in the movie, but my parents didn't tell me that they'd gotten that call because they didn't want me to change my summer plans. They told me when I got back from the summer trip, at which point I called and asked if they could still use me. They said I could come out to do the opening credit scene if I wanted to, so I did. My grandmother drove me out to the set, and they put her in it, too!
