Downtown Portland dinner spots?

Hi ladies,

I'm in Portland for work, and I'm looking for a place for dinner.  I'm solo, so nothing all couply and within walking distance.  (By the downtown Hilton.)  My last fish experience here wasn't very good, so I'd love some great salmon.  Or sushi.  Super healthy something.  It's pretty much steak and more steak back home in Nebraska.

Thanks!

Re: Downtown Portland dinner spots?

  • Is this for tonight? With such beautiful weather, I'd definitely try to eat outside.

    • Veritable Quandary is delicious, has a great patio and generally has at least one good fish option on the menu. It's at the corner of SW 1st and Madison.
    • Mother's Bistro may have fish, may not but the food is great and it's sort of a Portland favorite. It's at the corner of SW 2nd and Stark. I don't know if they have outdoor seating.
    • E-San Thai is my favorite in town. Super fresh ingredients and just all around tasty. It's at the corner of SW 2nd and Pine. I don't know that they have outdoor seating.
    • Saucebox is a fun swanky little place with great cocktails and I've had good, fish here. SW Broadway, one block south of Burnside.
    • Jake's Famous Crawfish seems to be fairly well known for it's fish. I've never been all that wowed about it but... SW 12th and Starkish?
    • Three Degrees has great food, a nice view and I'm sure tasty fish on the menu. It's down on the waterfront on the south end of Waterfront Park.
    • South Park Seafood and Grill. I've eaten here on a number of occasions and have always been really happy with my meal. Really good wine too. SW Salmon and the Park Blocks.
    • Masu Sushi is great sushi in a fun environment. It's on the corner of SW 13th and Stark. I don't think they have outdoor seating.

    Enjoy!

  • All of the above I agree with except for the Veritable Quandry.  Great for drinks on the patio, but I've never had a great food or service experience there.

I like Jake's Grill (there's two Jake's in Portland) it's on 10th and Salmon-ish?  Not sure of the cross street.  I love their salmon, it's always tasty.  Great crab also.

Also McCormicks down on the waterfront has a great patio.  I would either go there or Three Degrees restaurant, but I haven't had fish there.

    Good luck!
