Just wondering if you've found a house to move to? I think I'm just jealous and living vicariously through you since it didn't work out for us! )
Re: ***amy.matt***
well, maybe.... lol. we are going back to a house in remington oaks that we've looked at a couple times. it's got it's quirks, but there really isn't anything else out there with a decent yard. I only think our place sold because of the 1st time home buyer tax credits. Our house is perfect for a 1st time home buyer, which is why i wanted to get it on the market. and the people buying it are 1st time home buyers. We have the smallest floorplan in our subdivision (about 1300 sq ft), so it's great for a couple first starting out. AND, the couple buying it are engaged, pregnant and young... so, it's perfect for both parties. If you guys are willing, you should really consider it right now. I'm not sure how big your house is, but my girlfriend's sold in about 4 days over by you. it's a small house, but that's perfect for 1st time home buyers and there are a lot of them out there right now.... just a thought! I'll keep you posted. hopefully we'll through a contract out there tomorrow night. I've already read the subdivision bylaws, got a bid from a painter (because the entire inside of the house is WHITE) and talked to the subdivision dude about putting in a fence...lol. we're getting a little ahead of ourselves, but i really like to cover my bases... now we need to put in an offer and see if we can come to an agreement. wish me luck! it's so stressful! LOL.
I'll feel so much better when we have our own house to look forward too. right now i just feel homeless!
Amy, I think our lives are mirrored... Our house is also starter, but we took out an equity loan to fix it up, so we have that money sunk in, too and we didn't want to take a loss. But we did take it off the market before the first time home buyer thing happened, dammit. But we had a contract on another house contingent upon us selling our. PERFECT house for us. Somone came in with an offer without a contingency. When we lost that one, we kind of lost the motivation. I think we may just stick it out for a while.
I think I know which house you're looking it, does it back up to a lake? FYI - subdivision fees in Rem Oak are about $600 bucks a year, but that includes a membership to the pool (you can't opt out of the pool).
Good luck and definitely keep me up to date!
Here's our update!
That was the house we were talking about. We went in with an offer and they countered us HIGHER than they have it listed for! LOL. they are really out of touch. we didn't waste much time with them at all. we countered once and they came down 2000.00... not worth our time. That house needs A LOT of TLC. We moved on to our second choice, only to be told it went under contract 2 days ago. I was devastated and needed a few minutes to grieve! Ha. Then we went to our 3rd choice (Oakmoor - Remington Oaks), which I've liked all along, i just liked the others better. So, we are now UNDER CONTRACT!!! Just faxed the paperwork a few minutes ago. We're really happy with our decision and I think with some small changes we'd like to make, it will make it our own. It's in really good condition and decorated beautifully, so there won't be any major changes that will need to be made (unlike the other house).... I know the subdivision fees are a little steep, but that DOES include the trash... our subdivision also includes trash and we're paying $480 and we've got nothing for that... not even very much common ground. So, i'll may a couple hundred dollars more for the pool and workout center, etc.
We're really excited, but haven't started packing AT ALL! Ha. i just brought up some boxes and Avery is pulling out everything that i'm packing...so, i quickly realized this is going to be a hard long 3 weeks! HA
I wish you the best of luck with your home. The market WILL rebound. Just be patient (which i know is easier said than done!)......
We should really get together sometime after I get all settled. We'll be neighbors!
Off to figure out where to start packing this house! It's so overwhelming!
