Are these hotels okay?

We're going to the zoo Sunday and need to stay over on Sunday night.  I'm looking in Forest Park and Drury, Hampton are booked full.

On priceline, I've found a Red Roof Inn and a Cheshire Lodge.

How are they?  should I take or stay away from?

Also, on hotwire, I found a 4 star hotel downtown for $59.  Should i risk it and take that one? (even though it would be little ways from the zoo)

Have you checked reviews at www.tripadvisor.com? The reviews of Cheshire aren't great at all. There are only two reviews of the RR Inn- one is good from a year ago and one is bad from almost 4 years ago. Also check out www.betterbidding.com. They have ways of figuring out which hotel is which on Hotwire. If you just need a place to sleep and shower, I'd go with the RR Inn. Apparently it was recently renovated. One thing to think about with the 4* hotel is you might have to pay for parking.

  • i'm not sure about the hotels you mentioned, but we stayed at the Renaissance Grand downtown for 59.00 a while back.  it's a beautiful hotel and i guess they weren't full, so we got a great rate.  We did, however, have to pay $15 or $20 for parking.  i'd just stay at the 4 star if it were me, just to be safe.

  • I've stayed at the Cheshire, but we stayed in one of the theme rooms. It's no Westin or anything, but it was nice enough. Clean etc.

But I can't attest to the "regular" rooms..

  • Unrelated to this post, but TriciaJoy...your signature is hilarious! Smile
  • IMO the 2 places you mentioned are more along the line of a motel, I would take my chances on the 4 star hotel downtown...
