Looking for a weekend getaway from Nashville

Hey ladies!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a fun place to spend a night that is a 3 hours or less drive from Nashville?  My husband and I are looking to go someplace for our anniversary, but probably will only have a babysitter for one day and night, so it has to be close by.  We'd prefer to go somewhere out of the city and outdoorsy - we'd love to find a cool lodge/cabin in a beautiful area.  I know there are a ton of places in east Tennessee, around the Smokies, but a lot of them are a little too far for the limited time that we have.  Thanks so much for any recommendations you can offer!

  • Fall Creek Falls is beautiful. I think it's about 2 hours from Nashville. DH & I camped there last year, but I think there are plenty of rental cabins available as well.
  • Chattanooga is great. ?Lots of stuff to do...Aquarium, Rock City, Ruby falls ect. ?

Paris Landing State park is about 2 hours from here, they have cabin rentals and its right on the lake.

Mammoth Cave in KY....not been there, but it looks like a great place?

  • I second Fall Creek Falls and Chattanooga.
  • Fall Creek Falls is beautiful. If you want outdoorsy without the camping Dancing Bear Lodge and there is another place in E. TN that DH went for a conference but I forget the name but it is ridicuously expensive
  • Thank you all so much - these are all awesome ideas!!  Researching them right now.

Hoping4 - are you thinking of Blackberry Farms?   Love that place - went with my family - but could never afford it myself. ;)

  • Definitely Chattanooga!  I'm a little bit biased since I live here, but it really is a fun place to spend a weekend.  If you come, you should go to the aquarium - the penguins have laid eggs and a few have hatched.  I've been trying to find time to go downtown to see them!

  • I second Chattanooga. We stayed in a very nice B&B called the Chanticleer Inn for a weekend getaway. It's walking distance from Rock City. The owners were very sweet!
