Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell
DH and I are considering purchasing a lake lot. We'll be out there in September to check out the area. Can you tell me more about the area- what is there to do, shopping, hospitals, etc? What are the seasons like? Other positives and negatives? Do you prefer one lake over the other? Thanks
Re: Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell
I am a Realtor that sells RE on both Lake Keowee and Lake Hartwell. I'm clearly biased, but I love the area.
The favorite lake is definitely Keowee.... the lake level stays more even, the homes tend to be more upscale and the lots often have better water views. Of couse for all of this there is a price.... Lake Hartwell lots start around 100k where Lake Keowee's are easily double that.
Shopping in the area isn't fantastic... but you're less than an hour from Greenville, which has about everything.
My family has a home on Lake Hartwell and we love it. Either are fun!
If you are going to boat a lot, I would choose Hartwell. Keowee always has LARGE boats and seems congested. It's not fun to ride a jet ski, esp. with a passenger, because the wakes are huge.
If I was buying a lot on any lake, it would be lake Jocassee.
In my MLS system (oconee, anderson and pickens co), there have only ever been 12 lots on Jocassee sold. There are two on the market, one for 750k and one for 950k, but I agree that if you could afford it, they'd be awesome
