Re: Lake Geneva recs please
Where are you staying? I just had this whole thing typed out about hotels, but realized you probably have a hotel.
There is a really good restaraunt downtown, and of course I can't think of the name of it. It has a reg. menu, but you can also do one of those surprise type things and they bring you a full meal of the chef's choice.
We love Popeye's.....more of a fun lunch place. There's lots of shopping and an old movie theater. The Grand Geneva has a spa if you want couples massages. You can also rent waverunners if you want, or go horseback riding at the Grand Geneva.
We love going to Lake Geneva b/c it's so close, but feels like a real vacation!
Lake Geneva can be so relaxing... we love to just go and do nothing but walk around and sit and relax by the lake. You can take a boat tour - or even rent skidoos and stuff if you're more adventurous.
Tons of restaurants are there - I like Popeyes which is casual and loud. There's a GREAT sushi joint on one of the streets off the main roads.
Google LG and you'll find a butt load of stuff.
Do you know where you are staying yet?

Timber Ridge is part of the Grand Geneva, so there is stuff to do right there: the water park, golfing, horseback riding, the spa. That is all on the Grand Geneva site.
There is a place called Gilbert's on the lake front in a restored mansion that is just fantastic looking. we ended up not being able to go bc there was a wedding that saturday, but I know that they take reservations.
Cactus cantina, or cactus club, whatever it is called has effen for $4.50. You really can't beat that. There is an Italian place on Main Street called Sopra that also is good, and Scuttlebutts (on the lake) has a good fishfry on Fridays if you're into that.
You can do the Black Pointe Estate tour, as it opens this weekend. It is through the Geneva Lake Tour Company and includes a tour of the lake, and you enter the estate from lakeside. I'm really sorry that we missed it. We did the bay tour though, it was nice.
The lake front of every property has a public path (even if it isn't marked) so you can stroll through there if you'd like. There are also a number of bike paths.
The Geneva Lake Museum is small, but it's $5 to get in and they have a few cute things.
Yerkes Observatory (Williams Bay) has tours on Saturdays at 10, 11, and noon. It's free but they ask for donations ($5 suggested). Kilians is great for fudge, but not cheap. They do make it on premises daily though.
