My little sister knows I'm on the nest and asked if I could post a message on the SC board.
She works at an apartment complex in Mt. Pleasant. One of the residents passed away last week and had a purebred cocker spaniel. The family of the woman isn't interested in taking the dog. My sister is taking care of the dog in the meantime, but she already has a dog and a cat in her little apartment, so she doesn't really have room for an extra animal long-term.
She's been calling around to shelters and such, but will only take it to a place that does not euthanize and so far every place is full.
Does anyone know of anyone looking to adopt a dog? She said she has the paperwork showing that it's purebred and everything if that's important to someone adopting.
Thanks!
Re: Anyone interested in adopting a cocker spaniel?
Bless your sister!
Try posting this on the pets board- there are SC nesties over there who could help your sister get the word out within the rescue community. Please don't let her take him to a shelter, he won't survive.
Definitely page "SC nesties, need help!" over on Pets and you'll get some responses!
I can't find a cocker rescue here in SC, but here is a list.
You may think this is nuts, but if you find one of the rescues to take him in, it's totally do-able to arrange a transport to get the dog from one state to another. Pets board does it all the time.
