Re: How was your weekend?

  • It was very good, and I would like for it to be continuing today!!  I think all weekends should be 3 days...or 4. Wink

Friday we went to C's softball game.  They lost. Sad

Saturday we rescheduled our haircuts in favor of having a nice relaxing morning together.  We did a Home Depot run, grabbed some lunch out and had an impromptu picnic in the grass.  Then we primed the bathroom ceiling, but didn't get around to the paint.  Did get around to finally putting our off season clothes away and installing the air conditioners though, which was a big victory!  Had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and did Target shopping (where I got the cutest little bronze flats for $12.99!)

Sunday we took my little brother to see Harry Potter, which we all loved, and then when to a birthday party for both my brothers, where my littlest brother killed us all with his endless cuteness as usual.

Now I'm back and work and wishing I was outside enjoying this continued terrific weather!!

  • I can barely move today. holy soreness. So you know how we cut down a couple big huge bushes and I was looking around for a stump grinder? Yeah, well we decided to take them out ourselves this weekend. Actually not as tough as I thought it would be, but it required A LOT of manual labor. i even broke a shovel in the process! And after we got the stumps out, we tilled the garden beds (to introduce some better soil - what was in there was sooo rocky and dry), planted all new plants, and mulched on top.   We have 3 total garden beds and finished two yesterday.  I"m hoping to bang out the third today after work but its in baaaaad shape.  I have to say, though - I was SO proud of the two gardens we finished yesterday.  I've never been a handy, manual labor type gal but our hours of sweat equity went FAR.  I'm totally in love with the plants we chose and how it came out!!  The only disapointment was that hours of tree-hunting produced no results. We were specifically looking for a dappling willow and none of the nurseries near us still had any.  In any case, I'll be sure to AW some pictures when its all completed :)

In between all the gardening we attending a wedding which was a lot of fun and we patted ourselves on the back yesterday evening with a yummy dinner at the cheesecake factory!

  • This weekend was too quick.  Saturday K and I just roamed around finishing some errands and went to a few new stores. Than around 9pm she decided she wanted to go out for a drink. So we got dressed up and headed to one of the main streets in town to just walk around.  We grabbed a beer and sat on an outdoor patio soaking in a very rare day of warm weather.

Sunday was spent doing yard work.  Like CTBride I am so sore today. We ripped up a whole section of lawn and my fingers hurt to move (from pulling grass I imagine). We have a bit more to do tonight but it looks much nicer than before and I'm happy we're finally getting it done.

  • It was a long weekend for me since I was home with the kids on Friday.

I took the kids to a children's museum on Friday and then for Mexican dor dinner. I was exhausted and L was still sick, so we let them watch too much tv that evening. Oh well.

Saturday I took them to a drumming concert at a local park, but had told them about the train rides/carousel they had - so they were not interested in the drums. Rode the carousel, train, and played on the playground. Ate "Old McDonalds" on the way home. L went back to the doctor and was diagnosed with pneumonia.  I took the kids to the pool. Last year Carter hated the water, this year he LOVED it.  The kids were worn out when we got home. I made banana bread while they watched Peter Pan and ate dinner.

Sunday L was feeling a bit better, so we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.  She was worn out by the time we got home, so I took the kids swimming again and then for ice cream.  L was feeling miserable again so I got the kids bathed,  fed, and in bed.  Once they were asleep, I worked on laundry and cleaning.

I was ready to come back to work today.  My hat goes off to single parents and SAHM.

  • ours was very busy, but good. we did a bunch of stuff but got in some us time too. her back has been hurting quite a bit this week and her feet/ankles have been swelling--which may or may not be related to each other but are both most definitely related to her being pregnant--so we opted not to do a few things we wanted to so that she could relax and rest.
  • I had a delightfully unproductive Saturday-- I mostly slept and watched tv while S worked on her dissertation. On Sunday we came in to work after church. We'd agreed to work for 4 hours, then go home. 7 or 8 hours later we were finally walking out of the door. It feels like it's Tuesday to me since I was here all day yesterday. Yuck.

  • We had a nice wekend. LMC did really well so that helped keep the stress levels down. We did some small projects around the house and tried to keep cool. Last night we had  our first babysitter come to the house so we could go to dinner. It was just what I needed and we will do it often. I realize now how much I needed that small break.
  • We found out Friday night that we have to move. Our landlord wants to move back into our house. So we ended up spending most of the weekend stressing, looking at craigslist, and driving around to look at places. We have to move out by mid-Sept so I won't be able to go on vacation in Sept. Well, I will, but my vacation time will be spent moving instead of playing. Sigh.

Anyway, we actually had a great weekend otherwise. We went to Harry Potter on Saturday in this adorable old theater in Alexandria. We spent the afternoon apartment hunting and then went out dancing Saturday night with some friends of ours. Sunday we weeded our community garden plot and went to a fabulously gay birthday party.
