XP: Anniversary Gift Ideas (for parents)
My parents 35th wedding anniversary is coming up and I don't know what to get them. My brother is willing to go in on a larger gift with me but we're stumped. They already take a lot of weekend trips away so that idea is out. Any suggestions?

Re: XP: Anniversary Gift Ideas (for parents)
If they're the already-have-everything type of people, maybe something sentimental, like a photo book with pictures from their last 35 years? If they travel a lot, do they need anything like luggage (maybe given with a subscription to a travel magazine)? I have no real ideas-- I have to admit I usually don't get my parents anything for their anniversary (last one I got something for was their 25th many years ago; I baked them a cake and gave it to them on a nice silver platter).

Do you have old videos that need to be converted to DVD? A gc for a B&B/hotel/nice restaurant? Art work? Flowers of the month club?
I used to get my parents anniversary gifts - but once I got married, I realized it was really for the couple to celebrate (and selfishly because my parents have not recognized one of my 6 anniversaries even with a Happy Anniversary.) That being said, I did pick up the $$$ tab for their anniversary dinner and gave them pictures of the kids when they were here in June (40th anniversary.)
If they are anything like my parents they get whatever they want which isn?t a lot and I have given them just about every sentimental gift I can give them. I don?t know if you like to cook but I gave them the best gift one year. They love good food and I have introduced them to so many things they love now like seared tuna steaks and sushi. So a couple years ago I found a Cuisine at Home magazine and had them over for a dinner that would have cost a couple hundred dollars. I serve them crab and shrimp stuffed filet mignon with hollandaise sauce and asparagus spears and for dessert, mocha pot de cr?me. I also splurged on great wines and of coursed my girlfriend and I joined them in the dinner after we made it. They absolutely loved it and my Mom said she would rather have that as an anniversary present every year because she loves spending time with her kids and enjoying a good meal.
