Newbie Moving to Bowling Green

Hello all!  I'm new to the Nest (just got married back in May), and my DH and I are set to move back to Kentucky, to Bowling Green.  We're from the northern part of the state originally, so neither of us is familiar with the BG area.

Anyone have any advice on good parts of town to live and good schools?  We're looking to buy a house so that in a couple of years we'll be set to start having kids. Also any real estate agent recommendations?  We go down next month to take a house hunting trip, and I'd like to have someone lined up to work with within a week or so.

When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

Re: Newbie Moving to Bowling Green

  • Hi!

I live in Bowling Green and LOVE it!  What brings you down here?  Remax is a big down here...you can go to http://www.homesinbowlinggreen.com/?gclid=CKPnqqij9psCFQMQswodL0-KAA

There is actually a house right next to me for sale, but it needs some work done inside (old lady has lived there forever).  Anything in South Warren County (42104) is good as well as the city of BG (which is more expensive).  You can find a great house for about $150K (3 bed, 3 bath).

Scottsville Road is the "main road" as well as Campbell Lane.  Let me know if you have any other ?'s!

  • I agree with the previous post.  The southern part of the county is your best bet, especially as far as schools are concerned.  Good elementary schools are Rich Pond, Alvaton, Plano, and Natcher.  Welcome to BG!
  • Thanks to you both!

DH and I just got back from our trip down there.  We really loved the city, so I can't wait to get down there.

I didn't see your responses til I got back, but that was the general advice of our REA.  Unfortunately, we didn't find anything we really liked down on the southern side of town.  We ended up putting in an offer that was accepted on a three bedroom two bath out near Smiths Grove.  Not as good in terms of schools, but we really wanted something with more room in terms of lot (it's on a full acre).

Three more weeks and I'll be down there.  Hopefully the house will close by then... If not, we're stuck staying with my mom until it does!
