We are here....

in Williamsburg. The drive wasn't so bad but we are now living among boxes to unpack. We slowly are finding our way around. Found some stores today but seems like we can ride our bikes around to some places which will be nice. Still not much word on a teaching job.  Kinda thought one would just be "waiting" for me when I got here but that didn't happen.  At least we are enjoying exploring together.

Re: We are here....

  • You might have more luck finding a job now that you are here.  I know that before I arrived from NY, it was like they didn't believe I was really coming!  Anyway, good luck and don't give up!!  I am sure there is a job out there for you! :)
  • I just saw a lot of jobs with James City and Williamsburg online at the site teachers-teachers.com. It's a bit nerve-racking, but more openings will pop up in august, too.
  • Hope you find a job quickly.
  • Thanks. Things are really going great so far. Well, maybe not the job searching but I have to remind myself that I havent even been here a week yet. I went to Williamsburg/James County School offfice today and was told that they have about 100 and so people that they need to call about subbing before they open it to new people. Very depressing news. I am trying (very hard) to stay positive since I know my husband will be sick of hearing about it when he starts Law school at William and Mary.

  • Try the teachers-teachers.org site that pp mentioned. And if you're looking for subbing, try school districts just outside your area. I hope you find something soon.  I just graduated and had a hard time finding English  teaching positions. I lucked into one an hour away. Its so stressful when you put yourself out there and can't find anything. Feel free to vent here!
