Help Needed

I'm at a loss of where to take the family, we're thinking about avoiding the airport as lugging everything around is a PITA, so the local has to be within a resonable driving distance. We are also avoiding the states we commonly visit because of family (CA, VA, WA). Please help:

Re: Help Needed

  • I lived in Phoenix for years and would absolutely avoid it as much as possible until at least November.  It was around 115 there yesterday and will probably get hotter before it gets cooler.  I currently live in Utah and the national parks are absolutely gorgeous!  I haven't specifically visited all of them yet, but I've driven through most of the areas and they are definitely worth a trip.  If you go to Utah, make sure to hit one of the Dinosaur parks.  There are a bunch of them and I can't remember which one is the really good one, but your kids would probably love any of them. :)
  • My mom took us to the Yosemite National Park one year and it was really cool.  I haven't been to the parks in Utah I don't think we did go to Big Bear lake which was gorgeous!  Everything there is just so natural and beautiful!

Lake Tahoe would be another pretty and relaxing place to go but it might be a better trip to go on without the kids.

  • Having been to all of these places, I would def. say the parks in Utah. They are amazing, esp. if you like anthropology/archeology. Plus, the scenery is awesome.
  • I agree with Aravis, I would avoid  AZ like the plague right now, but I'm not a fan of extream heat.  I've been to one dino park in UT and it was awesome, that's my suggestion.  Or Yellowstone is great, but that wasn't an option haha Smile

  • I picked the National Parks.  I am biased because we went to two National Parks (Yellowstone and Grand Teton) for our honetmoon and now I want to see them all!

  • I vote AlbUquerque and then Santa Fe.  They are truely unique places that don't often get advertised.  There is also a lot to do within a reasonable driving distance of Albuquerque.  If you pick this one let me know as it is my hometown.  I could give you some tips!
