Hi, South Florida Nesties! Detroit residents DH and I have winter vacationed in Ft. Myers Beach for the past 10 years. We are coming down the week of August 8th, our first time visiting in the summer. What can we expect as far as weather?
Re: How Hot?
Hi...
Well in Miami you can expect 100 degree weather & maybe some rain.
Scary, but accurate. It will be hot (high 90s) and very humid. Showers may be expected. Possible hurricanes/tropical storm... peak season.
However, all this week has been gorgeous... perfect beach/pool weather... at least in my area.

It has been so hot lately that I can hardly stand to take my dog for a walk! After a while, he just plops his butt on the ground and sits there panting, starting at me like "Why the hell are we out in this heat?! There is perfectly good AC inside!"
August will be just as hot, unfortunately, but perfect weather for the beach. I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay, unless a hurricane or tropical storm pops up.
Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping we'll get lucky and hit a "cool" spell, but I'll settle for anything as long as it's major tropical storm free. I was checking the weather history for that week, and was reminded that Hurricane Charlie lasted from August 9 - 15th, 2004!
I'm hoping the odds of another storm of that magnitude wouldn't happen affecting the same area in the same week, but who knows?
and it's extremely humid!
