Anyone make their own crib bedding?

How many yards of fabric did it take to make the bedskirt? TIA!

Re: Anyone make their own crib bedding?

  • I have no idea. I'm just impressed that you would even have the time/effort/motivation/energy to do that! I bought mine, and thought I was crafty to sand down and redo the crib, toy box and dresser. I even "made" the curtains by cheating and using the iron-on hem tape. That's all I have left in me energy wise at this point. Now that Brett FINALLY made it home from Singapore (after being gone a full month) I'm just ready for this kiddo to make her appearance! I'm exhausted ALL the time!
  • Do you have a repeating pattern so it matters how you cut it?
  • If you don't get an answer here - you might try checking out the craft board.  There are some ladies on there that are a wealth of information.

  • I just pulled out my pattern and here are the measurements for a straight skirt.

    - 1.5 yds for the deck (the part that goes under the mattress and isn't visible)
    - two pieces that are 53" x 10.5" (or however long you want your drop to be)
    - two pieces that are 29" x 10.5" (or however long you want your drop to be)

You can also add a decorative hem of another kind of fabric to the bottom (which would also add to the drop length), trims, etc.  But it really depends on whether your fabric has a repeating pattern, and how long you want your drop to be.  But I would say 1.5 yards should be plenty for a straight with 1.5 for the deck and if you want a ruffled just double the widths of the 53" and 29" pieces and purchase 3 yards of that fabric and 1.5 yards for the deck.

  • a picture might help :)

  • You'll need extra for the inverted pleats.  You could probably do 2-2.5 yards total for the skirt (plus 1.5 for the deck).
  • Pretty!  Our nursery is black, yellow, sage green and white and I LOVE it!
  • I have no idea how, just wanted to say that is very cute bedding!

  • I love that nursery!
  • I had mine made and have that same style of bedskirt and I had to provide 4 yards for it.
  • No idea about the fabric, but that bedding/color scheme is super cute!

  • I love that bedding, Meagan!  That whole nursery theme is just adorable.  How cute! You have to post pictures when it's all completed!
  • I made mine, it was just like that one as well, I also used more fabric, because I wanted it to touch the ground even when the bed was all the way up.
  • Very cute bedding Meagan. You making that?
  • I am finding someone to make it for me :) hehe!?
