Re: Watts Bar Lake and Douglas Lake

  • Well like anywhere, there are some nice areas and some crappy ones. My parents actually lived on Douglas lake and I prefer it over Watts Bar. It is the top of the chain of lakes and dams so it is a bit cleaner that Watts Bar which is a nuclear plant on it. Douglas is also in the mountains and has some beautiful views. However, since Douglas is at the top of the chain, it drops really low during the winter. Like my dad lived in a cove and we could not even see the water when it was down. Also, depending on where you are near it, it can be far away to any civilization. My parents had to drive 45 minutes to the grocery store.

I grew up going to Watts bar, because it is my dads favorite fishing lake, and is closer to us. There are some really nice areas but the water can be kind of icky sometimes and it can get more of a crowd that Douglas. It is closer to store and civilization than Douglas.

I am not sure how much you know about the area but these are on opposite sides of Knoxville. Any other questions?

    I heart Ben!!
