What's everybody up to today?

In my effort to make this board active, I'm going to try and post something every other day.

DH left for work about an hour ago, and so far I've cleaned the kitchen. I'm planning on cleaning the bathroom, but I just can't get up the energy!

I'm so stressed out, and I'm not even working yet! (I start my first year of teaching this fall, so right now I'm just hanging out.) We're trying to buy a house, but nothing seems to be going our way. We've put an offer on three different houses, and none of them have worked out. I don't know what the market is like in your part of VA, but its not exactly hopping here. The house we currently are countering with is being ridiculous! Its like the sellers think its a seller's market. They want us to pay full price and then some.

Since DH works nights and sleeps during the day, its kinda up to me to do all the house hunting stuff. If this house doesn't work out, I don't know what we're going to do. I haven't been impressed with any of the other houses around here. They are so dated, and I know we can fix them up, but I don't want to move into a dump. I don't mind doing some renovating, but I don't want to spend all my free money and time fixing up our house. Plus, if we don't buy one before November, we won't get the $8,000 tax credit. I want my tax credit!

So yeah, what are you up to today? Was your day stressful too?

Re: What's everybody up to today?

  • I am so incredibly bored haha!  My husband is working, my daughter is off camping/visiting with her grandparents for 2 weeks and I am just here.  I *should* be organizing/cleaning, etc. but today I am just not motivated!  (mostly due to a headache that won't go away!)

My stress: I have NO clue what my job entails and feel like I should be getting ready for it (6th grade spec. ed. social studies as far as I know) but have no clue what I should be doing because I don't know if I am for a fact co-teaching all day or not.  Everyone I could ask is on vacation... bleh!

But, I hope your house hunting works out!!  I wish we were buying... but until we are permanently settled somewhere after my DH finishes his doctorate at VTech I don't even want to look.  :)

  • My friends who live with us are house hunting and are stuck waiting until Sept. 1st for financial reasons so they are looking and nervous about finding the perfect house and not being able to make an offer yet. House Hunting and purchasing can be so stressful. The right house will come along, you just have to be patient. GL!

I had a really busy day at work yesterday and same today. I am throwing a Ice Cream Block Party on Saturday so right now my personal time is taken up with that. I am excited and can't wait. It was free Ice Cream from Eddy's. I won one of 1,500 prizes. I also am helping with VBS next week and going to a wedding in TN next weekend so I have been pretty busy. I just returned the foster kittens yesterday, so my own cats like me again.

So, I've been really busy, but the ladies around Roanoke need to have that get-together!

I'm about to start a new book too! Julia and Julie. I will probably start it on the trip to TN next weekend.

I'm teaching 6th grade too! I'm teaching language arts. This is my first year teaching, so I'm super nervous. Is this your first year at a new school?

Also, I don't think we'd be looking if there were more options for renting in Dublin, but there aren't. His family lives in town, so we know we want to be in Dublin long term, but I just can't stand living in an apartment much longer. Our neighbors smoke, and it just wafts right into our kitchen and living room. Plus, they are super nosey. A group of rowdy 19-21 year olds just moved in across the parking lot too. Up until they moved in, the apartment has been fairly quiet.

An Ice Cream Block Party? That sounds fantastic! I hope everything goes off without a hitch for you this weekend.
