Discount tickets to the Indy Zoo?
Hi, I am from Cincy and will be driving up to the Indianapolis Zoo sometime in the next week or two. Does anyone know if I can get discount tickets anywhere?
Thanks!!!
Re: Discount tickets to the Indy Zoo?
Are you coming to see the Koalas? I'm a member, but it expires next weekend, so I don't think I'll get there to see them, but have fun! The only discount that I know of is if you go with a member, you get 20% off. Oh, if you have a Cincinnati zoo membership, I think you get a discount.
FWIW, the Indy Zoo is somewhat disappointing if you've been the the St. Louis zoo, or similar very nice ones....I like it, but we just go for a couple hours here and there....it's definately not an all-day trip. Our favorite parts are the aquarium and the Plains....the giraffes, zebras, and elephants are there.
And food is stupid expensive, so pack a lunch if you're coming around noon.
Thanks for the tips everyone!
We are meeting my parents (who live in Chicago) there. It is kind of a halfway point. I think we will probably be there all day to spend as much time as possible with them. Do you think we will get bored at the zoo all day?
Yes, you probably will get bored. If you wanted to do some additional activities in that direct area, there is the Indiana State Museum (even if you're not from Indiana, it's neat) or the Eiteljorg. Or, you could just walk the canal and enjoy the outdoors. The whole area is called White River State Park. Check it out.
Or, the other thing I would highly recommend would be the Indianapolis Children's Museum. You could easily spend all day there and it isn't just for kids, either.
No matter what you choose, have a great day!
I second the Children's Museum for an all day thing...
The last time we went to the musuem we had LeeAnn with us and my nephew (and this was this past fall - so they were 5 and 2) and we spent FOUR HOURS on the top floor alone. We didn't see anything else really (but we go pretty often so I was okay with that).
And the others had some good suggestions with the White River Gardens (comes with zoo admission) and the other areas right there.
Have a good time!
