Have you been to Orange Beach? We are looking at going there and were wondering if it is a good area or should we go a little farther to Destin or Pensacola instead? Thanks for any advice you might have!

I would go to OB or Gulf Shores, before Pensacola. Destin is really really great, but IMO, OB is just as pretty and not quite as expensive!

We just got back from a week in Gulf Shores last night...actually we stayed in Fort Morgan. We went through Meyer for our rental and had no issues, but I know Kaiser is good too, my boss who owns a home in GS uses Kaiser as his management co. I actually loved staying in Fort Morgan, it wasn't right in the middle of all that is Gulf Shores, just 20 minutes down the road so not a big deal at all to drive in to town to shop or go to the restaurants. The only thing I can complain about was getting there. Most rentals start on Saturday with 3:00 pm check ins, so getting through Mobile was a PITA with everyone else trying to get in town, and then on 59 getting into GS it was even worse, one way in and one way out.
We did go to Orange Beach one day to hangout, and that was nice, but GS and Fort Morgan are equally nice IMO.
Some of the places we really enjoyed were LuLus Restaurant (Jimmy Buffett's sister owns the place), The Hangout, great open restaurant right on the public beach, Mikee's seafood, The Wharf and we also went to the Florabama (redneck honky tonk).
DH played golf at Kiva Dunes and we had breakfast there one day. We had dinner the last night at the Beach Club which is a really nice resort and I would recommend staying there if you don't do a house rental, since it has a pool and beach. If we go again by ourselves without the family and kiddos, we'll probably get a bungalow at the Beach Club so I can use the pool. I love the ocean and beach but the jellyfish were out in full force while we were there.
