Anyone live near the Lehigh Valley?

Just wondering if I am on the right board and if anyone lives near the Lehigh Valley?

Re: Anyone live near the Lehigh Valley?

  • I have a bunch of family in Lehigh Valley, but I live about an hour and a half away.

  • I do! I live about 10 miles south of Allentown....are you in the area too?
  • I live in Phillipsburg, NJ which is still super close to Allentown. Any recommendations of things to do in the area? Places to go, places to eat?
  • My husband went to P-Burg HS! His parents live in Stewartsville. Are you new to the area? We used to live over by the LVIA airport but now live a little more south of Allentown. We've been in the Lehigh Valley for 2 years now.

A short list of places I love to go eat/visit/do:

    • The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley--outdoor shopping mall and more upscale restaurants, White Orchid is sooo good, and I hear Melt is good too.
    • The Lehigh Valley Mall is a lot better than the P-Burg mall but we don't have an H&M in PA. You have us there!
    • In P-burg there is this Italian place, I think it is Little Italy (not 100% sure though) and it is an Italian grocery store and restaurant and they have THE BEST gelato. Sooo good--now I want to drive there to get it!
    • Musikfest is starting this week in historic Bethlehem and I haven't been yet but I hear it is so much fun and it is free to get in. I'm going this year with some friends. That area of Bethlehem is great--the Brewworks, the Moravian bookshop, everything is so quaint and fun down there. Around the holidays, there is a lot going on too.
    • If antique cars are your thing, there is a huge antique car show in Macungie this weekend too.
    • The parks in Allentown are AMAZING. I heard on the radio that every Lehigh Valley citizen is like 5 mins away from a park.

I have to agree with this. Pretty much anything is better than the P-burg mall! I used to work there and that's when the mall was actually semi-nice.

  • I went to college in Easton.  I miss it a lot.  The Lehigh Valley Mall is definitely better than the Pburg Mall.  We used to make dates out of going to Wegmans on 25th street too.

You could also drive a little further and go to the outlets in Tannersville.  We also used to go to Allentown or Bethlehem for the different restaurants.

My favorite restaurant was Hanoverville Roadhouse.  It doesn't look like it from the outside, but the atmosphere is great and the food is delicious.
We used to go to Bethlehem Brewworks too and I loved the pizza at Moriccis in Easton.

  • Love the Shoppes at Saucon Valley!  We drive from the Reading area quite often to the restaurants and movies there.  We love Pacifico--so yummy!

They are really nice...we were there around Christmas with my parents and they have a good selection of stores.  My parents were jealous about the LL Bean store.

  • I live in Reading but I have some friends in the Lehigh Valley, so I've spent a bit of time there.  The restaurants in the area that I can think of off hand that I've liked are Nawab (Indian), Teppan (Hibachi/Japanese), Starters (Pub), and Jack Creek (steak house- I think that's the name!). There's also are all the usual chain restaurants. As for things to do, all I can think of right now is the new Sands casino. I went a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty nice if you're into that sort of thing.  I don't visit as often as I used to so now I'm blanking out on things to do.
