Williamsburg, VA ideas?

Hi ladies.....DH and I are planning a vacation with out little munchkin in a few weeks to Williamsburg.  It has been years since I have been there so I thought I would check to see inf anyone has been there recently, and if so, do you have any suggestions on fun things to do / places to go, etc.  TIA for any advice you can pass along!

Re: Williamsburg, VA ideas?

  • I just went a few monthes ago for a girls weekend. We did the Willimasburg Winery for lunch and a then the wine tasting, the food was great and the weather was nice so we sat outside, and of course the wine was good. We also did the outlets and a day at Bush Gardens.
  • Love it there!  We usually go to BG, the outlets and the huge Yankee Candle store(it snows in one of the rooms).  We also love this restaurant http://www.foodforthoughtrestaurant.com/ --great food at really reasonable prices.  We also stayed at Kingsmill Resort this last time and it was so nice.  Something else that is interesting is the Ghost Tours in Williamsburg--nothing scary, just interesting stories (fun way to look some history)as you walk about the town.

  • My parents love to go to Williamsburg and they've done a bunch of the different touristy things to do but if you like wine I would definitely check out the Williamsburg Winery.  They brought us back a few bottles from there and it was very good.
  • We love eating at Kings Tavern and Shields Tavern, and I think my parents like Chownings Tavern (pronounced Chewnings). And I highly recommend the chicken pot pie! I also recommend the bubble and squeak! Yum now my mouth is watering!

We also like to make a day of it and go to Busch Gardens while we are there.
