Is anybody else getting invaded by scary spiders?

Maybe it's the heat, although I don't remember seeing this many spiders inside my house last year.

They're weird scary spiders, I killed one that looked like a mini tarantula.  Then I found 3 more that looked similar but smaller and red.  I'm terrified that they're poisonous and are going to bite us or the dog.

I'm going to have to get somebody out here to spray the perimeter.

Re: Is anybody else getting invaded by scary spiders?

  • ::knocks on wood:: I haven't gotten any spiders, that I've noticed.  And I'm happy about that!  I hate them!  I did, however have a dream that my house was invaded by tiny tiny crawling gnats everywhere.  Such a horrible dream!

  • we are. We just bought that ridex thing. My parents have it and say it really works
  • ME!! Thanksfully I've determined that only one that we found is somewhat piosonous - the one that I thought was a recluse I think is actually a yellow sac spider. My brother found a really nasty looking one at this place too - a grass spider, not poisonous.

    Kat - what is that?

  • Mini tarantula!?!?! *shudder*

To answer your question, no. (thank goodness). I just have a japanese beetle that harasses me at night ; )

  • Not spiders. But we've been invaded by ants. H sprayed last night.

  • My exterminator said the only ones you have to worry about being poisonous are the black widows. Brown recluse are very poisonous too, but not native to so cal.

Speaking of spiders, I was teaching a private swimming lesson today (at the child's house) and the little girl noticed a spider on the bottom of the pool. I ignored it, as I couldn't see it, but she was insistent. I borrowed some goggles and took a look...there was a HUGE brown spider on the bottom of the pool. Her mom, and the mom of the other girl I teach, were freaking out. lol

I used their pool skimmer and got it out of the pool....it was the size of a half dollar!

  • ridex is this "as seen on tv" thing. It looks like a nightlight and you plug it into the wall and it's suppose to work within your walls and get rid of mice, rats, ants, roaches and spiders. We just put it in yesterday so we'll see
  • I have noticed weird looking spiders lately. Not a lot, but they look different than spiders I am used to seeing. Black widows are one of my biggest fear, but fortunately (knock on wood) we haven't seen any.
  • We've bee getting lots of spiders, too! We actually saw 2 crawling across our ceiling a few nights ago.  Spiders usually don't scare me, but one fell and our fan was on, and it almost flew towards me.  I almost jumped (waddled, really) off the bed! We have black widows, too.  Nasty!
