Cooking Classes in Portland?

I'm originally from Portland and I wanted to get my parents a gift certificate for a fun cooking class for their birthdays.  I saw In Good Taste down in the Pearl, does anyone know how they are?  I've also heard Sur La Table does them, but I'd love something more local and not a chain like that.  My parents are fun and hip and love all kinds of food and wine.  Any other recommendations?

  • I've taken at Sur La Table and would definitely recommend them. They even do "date night" classes, which I think would be a great gift for a couple who likes to cook. The schedule is available online.

  • My SIL took a class at In Good Taste and said it was good. Sorry I can't be more specific. I've been inside and it seemed nice.

There's a brand new cooking school in town, Hip Cooks. I haven't heard reviews yet.
