New kitten! Help me name her!

I'm getting a kitten!  I moved to Lafayette on Monday, knowing I wanted to get a cat ASAP.  Went to the animal shelter today and picked one out!  She's adorable!  She's part Maine ***, which I love, being from Maine and all!  She's mostly white with a couple tan patches, a little fluffy.  I'll be getting her on Tue.  We're having some work done on our house Mon, so want to wait until after that.  Now comes the hard part, naming her!  Looking for name suggestions!  Partial to Greek/Roman goddesses, but open to anything!

Re: New kitten! Help me name her!

  • What about just naming her Maine, or after something that reminds you of Maine?
  • Artemis is the Greek Goddess of Animals and the hunt... Diana is the Roman Goddes of Animals and the hunt...

If she seems to be really smart, Minerva is the Roman Goddess of Wisdom.

  • I have a MC cat too ;) His name is Macabean Butters C*** Kitty... and he is terriably cute, if I do say so myself!!!!

I had a cat name Thena (goddess of something or other) was the name of my cat growing up.

Hmm.... Xaxia is greek for goddess of the home.

Good luck and welcome to the best breed ever!!!!

  • Congrats! Wonderful to rescue a kitty! I think Maine is a cute name--or something that reminds you of there!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions!  I've actually switched gears and decided to give her a Russian name, Muka (pronounced Moo-ka).  It means "trouble".  Not that I'm expecting her to be trouble, just thought it was cute!  Husband and I met in the Peace Corps and lived for two years in a Russian/Kyrgyz speaking country, so it does have significance.  Can't wait to pick her up on Tuesday!
  • Earthmuffin, had to look at your blog to see if you had any pictures of your MC kitty.  You took some great pictures when you were messing around with your camera.  Love them!  (I'm a bit of a photography freak!)  And you're right, he makes a wonderful model!
  • Ahh.. thank you.My baby Bean is our world and I take entirely too many pictures of him ;) Can't wait to "meet" your little one.
  • Being new to this, I have no idea how to post a picture of her.  If you tell me how, I'll get a picture of her up ASAP.  She is ADORABLE!!!
