furniture consignment?

Has anyone sold furniture at a consignment shop?  I was thinking it would be less hassle than Craigslist.  After we put new floors in the kitchen we decided to get rid of the kitchen table since our islands has chairs and we usually eat at the dining table.

I've never tried it but I'd probably try craigslist first because I know most consignment shops take a good chunk of the profit. If you don't really care what you get for it though, I'd take it to consignment to avoid having to deal with people coming to my house.

If you want to just be rid of it then I would take it to a consignment shop but if you want to get some money for it then I would try CL first.  I know my mom (years ago) had the Jubilee shop come take an old 70's couch and love seat for consignment.

I thought the consignment shops can sell it with a reserve, meaning they would take other offers than what is listed on the tag, but wouldn't ever sell it for less than that amount. If after the allotted time, it still hasn't sold, you have the option of lowing the price or taking it back. That's how it was at the one that used to be on Columbia Ave in the strip mall by Centerville Rd.
