Stamford ???

After our wedding we are looking at buying a condo in Stamford because it's within our budget. We currently live in Manhattan and have been here for 12 years. Has anyone else on "the nest" left the city for Stamford? How was it? And - are there any areas of Stamford that are better than others to live?

I live in Stamford, I can help you. What type of home/neighborhood are you looking for? Are schools a consideration?

I have quite a few friends that live in Stamford- The Classic, One Stravwberry Hill, and the Biltmore are a few that they live in.

I live in Stamford too, but I didn'[t move here from Manhattan.  I grew up in a neighboring town....what exactly do you want to know?

I lived in Stamford for a few years after college and commuted into NYC. I love Stamford. Still go there several times a week. Not sure exactly what type of neighborhood you're looking for -- some have a really suburban feel, others are right in the center of downtown. And there are some sketchy areas too. Also, if schools are a concern, some of the elementary schools are good, others not so much. DH and I moved just north of Stamford to Westchester Co recently because we wanted to be in a good school district now that we have a couple kids.

We moved from NYC by way of White Plains first. We love it. We are downtown but will probably move to a house when our kids are school age.
