Premarital Counseling
Hi Ladies,
I am a knottie. Not yet married and wanted to do premarital counseling first. I was wondering if anyone had a good experience with that or any references.

Well I got married at the First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables about six months ago, and we were required to do premarital counseling with the church psychologist from in order to get married there. We had a great experience with her, and I highly recommend that everyone go through premarital couseling, even if it is not with her!!!

DH and I were counseled by our pastor (who is also my uncle). I recommend that you approach your church leader. We didn't do it to fulfill the requirement by the court house, I don't know if that's why you'd like to take them. If so, there is a list of approved councelors on your county's website.

We got married in the Catholic church, and they too require a counseling session. We met with the priest first, together, and individually. And later took a "test" individually, and our answers were later compared by another couple of the church. They made us aware of our differences, and helped us talk through them. It was actually very helpful.
