Re: How was your weekend??
Nothing like having your wife start a post under your screen name to force you to post!! Since she can't delete this block, I suppose I'll say something...
This weekend was okay. I napped, per my usual now. Only got out of the house for the essentials. I had an episode of scary cramping on Saturday, so I rested as much as possible after that. I SOOOO didn't want to come in to work today (tired and kinda blah feeling). I was thisclose to calling in, but I have meetings that would be a pain to reschedule, so I dragged myself in.

Friday - It was our nanny's last day. She hung around for a bit and then had a tearful good-bye. We grilled out, let the kids play in the water table, and ate outside. After the kids went to bed L worked (she is trying to make up hours from the week she was out sick with pneumonia) and I watched DVR.
Saturday - It was a whirlwind of a day - but so fun. We went to breakfast and then did a few errands. We headed to the mall where I got sucked in to buying Bare Minerals starter kit, new bras at Nordstroms (actually got fitted - an experience in humility), ate lunch (YUM), and let the kids play in the play area/ride the train. Then we headed to a pool party hosted by the Partners group we used to belong to. We haven't been to an event in 2 years (they aren't really kid friendly) but it was nice to see people we haven't seen in years. The kids had an awesome time in the pool. I caved and bought life vests and within in the hour, Carter was swimming (with the vest - but he let go of me and was kicking/paddling!) We spent 3 hours in the pool and had a blast! The kids were asleep before we got to the highway. Traffic was horrible, but it gave us time for the kids to take a nap. We had Pei-Wei for dinner and then home for ice cream and puddling jumping (evidently it poured at our house!) We were all beat - but Lstayed up to work a bit more while I read.
Sunday - Carter was up at 5:45 UGH. I started cleaning the house and by 8, I had done 1/2 of the house (I couldn't do the other half since L was asleep on the couch - she was hot upstairs and had gone down in the middle of the night.) We went to breakfast at Mimi's and then to Costco. I took a nap while the kids did and then we went to Red Robin for dinner (we have a bunch of birthday coupons to use this week!) After the kids went to bed, L worked and I fell asleep watching tv.
It was a great weekend!!
Our weekend was good. Friday I stayed home while Andrea met up with her friends. It was nice to veg and have the house to myself although i felt quite guilty when she got home and reported that everyone else's brought their spouse and kids. ooops.
Saturday we had a lazy morning and ran some errands. In the evening we saw a double header baseball game (local farm team).
Sunday we were supposed to head up to a water park w/ my BFF but it was raining and gross so we hit up the CT wine fest instead, which I much preferred! In the evening we just vegged and I worked for a bit before enjoying a yummy sunday dinner (pork loin).

We had a great weekend.
Friday night, C's game was rained out, so we got take out and lounged/packed.
Saturday we had a smooth bus ride to NYC for C's friend's bachelorette weekend. Went to the Museum of Sex, which was pretty good (it was kind of cramped and set up weird, but enjoyable), got back to our hotel where we found out due to overbooking, we would all be in one room instead of two (thank god there were only 4 of us, and the room had 2 beds), and hurried to get ready for our dinner reservations at this fancy "hot spot" sushi place. Dinner was awesome - the place was very cool, and the food and drinks were great. Then we hit a few bars and called it a night.
The next morning we had free breakfast thanks to the hotel's mix up, and a late check out time so we could take our time. I went and met one of my best friends and his girlfriend for brunch (sooo good!) and a rainy walk through the city. Then another bus ride back, after which we crashed into bed.
It was a whirlwind trip, but we had such a great time. After a couple beers, C spilled the beans to our friends about ttc, and everyone was really excited for us, and understanding about keeping it quiet since it could take a long time.
Good food, good drinks, good company. Great weekend. Can I have a nap now, please? I think I'm going to get some coffee...

The weekend was really nice... very relaxing.
We went to our best friends' place Saturday, and took all the ingrediants for chicken enchilladas, which I cooked up for a late lunch. Then we split up, the guys going back to our place and I stayed at their place for a girl/guys night. It was really nice to just chill and watch girlie movies.
Sunday we were all going to meet up at the park for a picnic... but it ended up raining torrentially all morning! So even if we had waited and done a late lunch again, everything was soaked. Instead the boys picked up sandwiches for everyone on their was over, and we just ate lunch at their place. Then it was back home for the rest of the day.
We went to bed early last night... but it totally ended up not helping me since I had a night full of weird dreams that woke me up 3 or 4 times. I was not happy this morning.

We had a really wonderful and very relaxing weekend! We postponed the wallpaper removal and I don't even feel guilty!
Friday: We grilled dinner and then ate dessert while watching He's Just Not That Into You, which was just ok.
Saturday: For the first time in like 10 years, I slept the vast majority of the morning away. It was great!! N slept in late too. We lazed around the house and then headed to Sears to get a $100 price adjustment on a patio set we just bought. Gotta love those sale ads! That night we had friends over for a bbq.
Sunday: The morning was spent cleaning and doing laundry. Later in the day we hit up my beloved Target, browsed a local thrift store, and then bought iphones. I'm in love!
TWB: Hope you are feeling better!
The weekend was good. Friday we had friends who have been away in Ecuador come meet us at the hospital. It was good to see them since we are missing their wedding on the 14th. They brought her a cute outfit from equador which she will be able to wear I think when she is 2! My parents also came and took us out to dinner.
Sat S's parents came to visit us at the hospital. They hadn't been to see Ella in a while so they were very excited.
Sunday was the shower which was very fun. We got tons of things for Ella which was very nice and generous. Lots of pink! A wonderful afgan made by Ella's namesake (Ella the first...S's grandma). My sister knit a wonderful sweater and hat. It was really nice. Parts were hard but I did well and didn't burst into tears. I now need to write many thank you notes and go through all her new things.
We went home for a bit to rest and then went to the hospital to see Ella. She was so cute a nurse found the cutest hat for her and she looked so cute with it on. She also weighed in at 2lb 14.5 oz last night. They actually weigh her on a scale outside her isolette in this nursery (in the intensive nursery the isolettes have scales in them). Anyway one of the Drs wanted to examine her while she was out and she was squirming around so much she almost rolled over. The Dr and nurse thought this was very funny and were quite impressed with her physical ability. They think she has forgotten that she is only 34 weeks!
we had a great weekend.
friday we went to the grocery, then i baked two cakes in preparation for the weekend. other than that we didn't do much.
saturday morning i decorated a cake for our friend's birthday with help from my wife, and then we headed to their place for the party. it started at three, and i don't even know what time we finally left. it was a fun party, though, and i have learned that i like sangria--possibly a little too much--and that nightswimming with friends is a blast.
sunday we slept in a bit, then i finished decorating the other cake for a friend of mine who just had a beautiful baby girl last weekend. we took it over and spent some time with them for a couple of hours. after we left we went to target and bru to look at some bedding stuff, then headed home.
we ordered pizza for dinner and did some moving of things out of the future nursery, then just chilled out on the couch until she had to leave for work.
there are some pictures on my blog of the cakes, and one of the baby pictures that i took if anyone wants to see.
We headed out of town on Friday afternoon to a cabin I rented in Mazama, WA for a weekend alone without the kids to celebrate our 1 year anniversary (dating that is
) which was on 7/25. It was HOT on Saturday we still managed a 10+ mile hike to the top of Maple Pass in the N. Cascades which has 360 degree AMAZING mountain views. I'm not sure we will ever manage to find another hike with SUCH amazing views in all directions, truly breathtaking. However, I am still itching the bugbites despite 2 coats of deet! awesome. Sunday we drove into Winthrop which is a small old-fashioned Western style town with wooden sidewalks, etc. and checked out all the little shops there before heading for home.
As a side-note and MOST hilarious...well maybe you had to be there...but I HOPE the ssh nesties can appreciate this... When we were driving up there on Friday we stopped to get dinner in a small town off the freeway just before leaving "civilization". We passed a strip mall where right on the corner was a Lovers.package store. I joked about how funny it was to see that store in such a SMALL town, like you would see everyone you know there! S said, well what the heck else do you think they do here?!? That was funny but then... When we were leaving after eating dinner, we turned the corner past the store again and S says, "baby, there's a huge c*ck on the side of the road". I said WHAT? Are you serious?!? About that time I had to pull over because there was an ambulance coming behind us. S thought I was pulling over to see the huge c*ck...which just so HAPPENED to be a giant ROOSTER in front of a home decor store that was near the other store... OMG, we laughed so hard when we both figured out what the other was saying/thinking and why I was pulling over that I had to pull over in a parking lot for 10 minutes while we cracked up. Ahh sigh...that's one for the memory books.
Crazy weekend. On Thursday we had dinner with our best gay boy friends, who moved to Iowa on Friday
Will miss them SO MUCH.
On Saturday we got up very early and loaded the rental car with our bikes, race gear, pretty dresses and assorted stuff and drove to Philadelphia. We hit the race expo and picked up our packets, then checked into the hotel, had lunch and took a nap. Saturday afternoon/evening we went to my coworker's wedding, which was SO COOL. It was a very traditional Hindu wedding. I had never been to one before and mostly didn't have any idea what was going on, but it was beautiful and flew by even though it was much longer than most wedding ceremonies I'm used to - 90 minutes. The reception was fun too. I was sad to have to miss the insane dessert display (wedding cake + many other kinds of cake + traditional Indian sweets), but I knew eating rich cake the night before the race wasn't a good idea.
Sunday AM we got up around 4:45, got ready for the race (Danskin Philly Triathlon), and headed over to Fairmount Park to check our bikes in, get body marked, etc. To make a long story short, they ended up cancelling the swim because of too much debris in the river, and on my second bike loop there was a CRAZY and very scary lightning storm that turned into a monsoon with flash flooding and rain so hard I couldn't even see where I was going. My arms hurt this morning from maintaining a crazy death-grip on my handlebars for the last 5 miles of the ride. After that they cancelled the race so I didn't get to even start the third leg. Normally I would be really disappointed and mad, but honestly the storm was so scary that I'm just grateful that neither of us got hurt. There were a lot of bike crashes.
