Moving to Milwaukee area...

My DH, DS and I are moving to the Milwaukee area in the beginning of July.  I have been working in Menomonee Falls for the past 6 months and commuting from Madison.  We finally accepted an offer on our house and now we need a place to rent.  Anyone know of any houses, townhouses, or duplexes for rent around Menonomee Falls/Sussex/Pewaukee, etc...  We are hoping for a 2-3 bedroom with a garage for 1K or less.  I am not finding much and I think rent prices have gone up since I have rented last.  Any advice would be helpful. I'm not sure if she still posts on the Milwaukee Knot board but ILoveDouglas has lived in the Menomonee Falls area for awhile and may be a good resource.

Have you checked out craigslist? We rent out a duplex in Shorewood and have always found tenants quickly that way. It seems like a lot of private parties use it for their rentals, which could be helpful if you're looking for a house.

There are some really nice apartments in Menomonee Falls right on Appleton Ave. called "The Woods" that are run by JBJ Properties.  We lived in some Germantown apartments by the same company and were very happy with how they ran things.  I know some of the 2-3 bedrooms are a little over $1,000 per month, but it's worth a look.  The website is http://www.jbjcompanies.com/woods.html  Hope that helps
