Calling all of you creative ladies!!!

I do not have a creative bone in my body.  I suck at decorating too.  So help me decide what colors to paint Bryce's room.  Here is the bedding we got for him...

I really like the way they have it painted with the stripes, but at this point, we don't have the time to do something like that.  We have a chair rail at the normal height and then another chair rail a foot from the ceiling.  Weird?  I know...but Brian read about doing that when you have really high ceilings so that the wall above the chair rail doesn't look so big.  He did that when he did Rylie's room in there.  So anyway, we can do either 2 or 3 colors.  Here is a link to how Rylie's room was done so you can see what I'm talking about with the chair rails...  http://picasaweb.google.com/bbobrian/RylieSRoom#5164067205244051922  I can't PIP that one.  Sorry.

I know there are a bunch of creative ladies on here, so give me some ideas!!!  TIA for your help!  Big Smile

  • The stripes wouldn't take too long...but I know you're anxioius to get it done.

If you get that delicate surfaces blue tape, you can do white background (if that is on your walls now) and yellow or something like that as the stripe...saving you a step of painting two colors up top. Then maybe a khaki color below the chair rail?

  • First OMG I LOVE THAT BEDDING. Secondly I was thinking a combo of yellow/khaki and white. Smile

  • I love that bedding. I wish they just did lil crocs.  that's what we want when/if we have a little boy.

But I agree the strips wouldn't take long. If you do a chair rail/border half way thru the room u can pull colors from the bedding and have two colors that way

  • Here are a few thoughts... you could do the bottom and top green(a shade or two lighter than the bedding color) and the middle khacki or vice versa.

Or....3 different shades of khacki....darkest at the bottom, lightest at the top. You could even do the same with 3 different greens.

Or...like a neopolitan look with brown, or dark khacki(like the monkeys head) on the bottom....green(the lighter minty/sage green in the bedding) in the middle and very light khacki(like the monkeys face) at the top. I think that may be my favorite. I am a sucker for browns with either light green, light blue or pink.

I have read that you should always do darker shades towards the bottom of the room and lighten it up as you reach the ceiling.

  • I think it would look great with:

    khaki/brown on the bottom

    beige in the middle

sage green on the top and across the ceiling

    cute bedding!!!

  • Is his furniture  going to be the same as Rylie's? I agree with most of the posters... do a chocolate or khaki color on the bottom and then maybe even do the strips in a very light green and beige or white (or all three--paint the upper walls white first, and then tape it off and alternate your colors from light green to beige and have white stripes in between....). I believe you can even take the material to Lowe's or Home Depot and get it scanned so you can get paint to match it--and then you can take it down a few shades lighter from that point. i'm starting to play around with ideas for my craft room/office and I want to paint stripes and what not... ultra creative.

I too love the bedding! too cute!

    good luck!

  • Thanks for all of the ideas ladies!  I sent this to Brian so he could see the different ideas.

This is what Bryce's furniture will look like...

  • I'd go with a neutral and then go either 2 colors up or down on the paint strip for the other color.  That way you know it's in the same family
  • Cute bedding!!! I love it! : )    Let me think about the colors...  I think a green and a brown might be nice.  (two greens and a brown?)  or maybe ivory, green and brown?

I like the yellow, khaki and white too though.... hmmm
