Is there a way to tell if you've friend requested someone in the past and they ignored it?

there's an old friend from HS that i want to friend but I cant remember if I've already sent her a request in the past....and i definitely dont want to be that girl who doesnt take a hint and sends multiple requests, u know?

I don't know of a way to check if you don't remember whether you friended them or not. I'm pretty sure they purposely don't have a way because they want you to be able to hit ignore without the other person knowing.

Ditto.  I think you can see pending requests...like if you go to try to friend request her now it would say "pending" if she just hadn't answered your first request yet.  But if she hit "ignore" than you won't know.

You can do all of the above before hitting "send" to initiate the friend request regardless of whether or not you've sent her one before....

what i've done is send them a private message saying "hey long time no see, what's been happening with you?" or something along those lines. if i get a positive response back i'll add them as a friend--and sometimes they even friend me first when they respond. if they don't get back, no harm no foul, and i can see that i've tried to make contact before if i'm unsure.
