help me plan a vacation

Hey ladies!

I haven't been on here in a long time!!!  I need your help.  My husband and I have 1 week vacation coming up in Sept.  We don't know where to go.  I'm looking for some place where we won't spend a lot of $, but that will be fun and relaxing.  We were going to drive to FL, but its turning out to seem like a way too long of a drive.  Ideas would be great!

Re: help me plan a vacation

  • How far do you want to go?

    For more local ideas.

If you like the outdoors, you could go to Starved Rock. The lodge and food are delicious too.  Galena has great shopping, spas, and golf available. You could stay at a bread and breakfast too. They have great ones up there!  Galena. Or stay on Lake Michigan or some other lake in Wisconsin, Michigan, etc. . .

    For road trips

Sports fans? Go to Canton, Ohio, where the football hall of fame is. Or, go watch your favorite baseball team play for a couple of games if they aren't playing too far away. Field of Dreams is in Iowa, not too far either.

     Good Luck!

  • What types of activity are you looking to do? ?Do you like being outdoors, nature, etc. ?or lying on a beach? ?Off the top of my head, I would suggest Door County Wisconsin. ?It's about 4-5 hours from the city. ?You can rent a cottage or stay at an hotel/inn that has kitchennette (sp?) & just buy your own food @ local grocery store. ?My husband & I do this most places we go to save $. ?There are lots of outdoor activities available in Door County & you still have access to Lake Michigan. ?They also have unique gift shops.

?Lake Geneva, Galena, Great Lakes in Michigan are also some good options if you're not looking to go very far.?

We thought about going to South Dakota as well to do the tourist thing (Badlands National Park, Mt. Rushmore). ?I believe it's about a 13hour drive? ?

    Hope this helps.?
