Question from the Detroit Board, about Mountains

Hey girls!

I am from the Detroit Board and my H and I are planning a trip to Disney next month and we are driving down.

My question is are there mountains off 1-75 in Tennessee?  If so do any of you know a good place to stay for a night or 2?  Cabin type of place in the mountains would be great...Sorry I am soo not familiar with TN or the area :)

 Thanks for your help!!

Re: Question from the Detroit Board, about Mountains

  • No, there really aren't any on 75. You will go from through knoxville and chattanooga, but the mountains are about 2 hours east of you. Sorry. If you wanna drive over you could, but it wont be on your way.
  • Actually, the Smoky Mtns (Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge) are only about 30-45 minutes east of Knoxville, not 2 hours. There are tons of cabin rentals in the area.

I agree.  You should be able to find a cabin rental not too far off the interstate.  I know that there are several places just east of Maryville.  And while I75 isn't officially part of the Great Smoky Mtns, the interstates in East TN are curvy and surrounded by beautiful rolling hills.  You'll really enjoy the drive!

  • Yes!  You'll pass through the Cumberland Mountains driving I-75 through Tennessee.  Then once you're in Knoxville you can head east to the Great Smoky Mountains (next county over), where they have tons of cabin options in Gatlinburg/Townsend/Pigeon Forge.

    Have fun!
