How did the meeting about your maternity leave go?  Get any better idea of how much leave you'll be given?

Re: SSG

  • It still is a work in progress but I am feeling much better about it.  Since I had the baby in the summer I only qualify for 2 days of paid maternity leave.  They can't postpone that leave time to when Ella comes home since it is given because it is based on the fact that I am pursumed to have a temporary disability as I recover from delivery.  To keep our benifits I currently have stretched my paycheck of the 2 paid days and the pay that they owe me from the summer to Dec 1.  Let's just say that my current check is half what S is making on unemployment.  Gulp.  So the current plan is to us my FMLA time for leave my district is waiting for a form filled out by Ella's Drs so that they can determine how much paid time they will give me.  I know it is not the law to pay for fmla but my district alows us to use sick time and to borrow from the the sick bank as needed to do this which is very nice.  Depending on what they determine I think I may get paid leave that is at least equivilant to the 8 weeks paid leave I would have given if I had Ella in Sept.  I may get more.  The least I will get is 20 days but I am pretty sure that I will get more.  I am pushing for the RSV season since I really don't want Ella in daycare during this time.  I am also worried about me bringing home rsv or the swine flu from the germy kids. We will see what happens.  I get the form back today and will bring it in on monday...send good thoughts about that will you.  Oh and the girl is up to 3 lbs 3.5 oz!  Another 50 grams yesterday.  She is growing like a weed!

  • yay ella!  And great news about your district being flexible (paid FMLA is a dream!).  I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get as much time as you possibly can.
  • ::butting in:: good news about the possible FMLA pay! I was also wondering where you maternity talks stood.  GL!
