POLL # 2

1) What was/is your baby?s nursery theme?

2) If you were to do it over what would you have changed/done?

[Let?s say that you already knew the sex]

3) What have you seen or heard of that was ?dreamy?? Any ideas for me? LOL

i.e. Jennifer Lopez?s twin nursery is amazing but I?d never be able to afford to do that!!

I know someone who decorated their little girl?s room in a Black & Green theme. The walls were green (like a baby green) and it had a black chair railing around the room, black chandelier, and black furniture ? green & white bedding.

Re: POLL # 2

  • We, apparently, are doing a very controversial nursery.  We have been taking a lot of flack about it - but we love it and therefore don't care if others don't.

We decided to do a black and white nursery with lime green accents (we don't know the sex of the baby).  The top half of the walls are black and the bottom half we wallpapered with Debbie Travis paintable textured wallpaper that has raised polka dots on it.  We painted it white (it already was white but they recommend painting it and we used a brighter white).  Then we are putting white chair rail up to separate the two.  Our glider is black with a green cushion.  My mom is making us curtains that will be tab top with about a foot and a half of lime green fabric and then the rest white.  We have a bunch of thick white picture frames that we will be putting bright prints in.  That is all we have decided on so far.

We aren't done yet, but I will post pictures when it is all done.

  • That sounds so nice!! I'd love to see pics...if you don't mind?

p.s. I don't understand what's so controversial about it? why because it has black? ppffftttttt so what?

I know someone who painted their kids room in a neon green (no joke) you need Cool to enter the room and on top of it was a lot more brightly colored pics on the walls - that to me - was weird! LOL

    To each their own, right?

  • My theme ended up being an ABC theme after I picked out the bedding...

After that I picked out a mobile that had an ABC theme, installed some floating shelves and placed wooden ABCs on them.....it kind of worked itself out that way

  • 1) What was/is your baby?s nursery theme? Our colours are robin's egg blue, orange and brown. SIL painted a shadow of a tree on the wall and we made some paper birds and owls to put up around the roon.

    2) If you were to do it over what would you have changed/done?

    Nothing, I love it all.

  • I saw the Peter Rabbit set up at Pottery Barn Kids the other day and liked it, so we might do something like that. Probably not purchased from there (as I think their prices are ridiculous), but maybe something with a Peter Rabbit theme if I can find some fabric somewhere else.

Here's the link to the display they have on the site

http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/mm20/index.cfm?pkey=cunisex-nursery-bedding|b (no clue how to make it clicky on a mac)

I don't like the actual room they have it in on the site, but I do like the white/green theme.

  • I like that blue for a little boy..or even a girl! with lots of white, it can work, right?

Also the peter rabbit is a nice 'kids' theme with out doing the same old..LOL

    Thanks for the ideas ladies!

    We're so lost..LOL

  • We're not doing a themed nursery, we figure we're keeping it simple and neutral and when they are older we will do a really great kids room. That way the room can be reused for #2 as well.
  • We stole our idea for Home Depot and Disney. ?We changed the colours and decided that in one room we would do Squares of all different colours below a chair rail and above the chair rail we painted it Tinker Bell Green. ?Then in the other part of the room (kind two rooms in one) we did a focal wall of large squares and based the wall colour on her sex. ?if she had been a boy the walls would have been blue instead of purple. ?That was the only difference. ?I love the room. ?If our next baby is a boy we will just change the walls to blue and Scarlett will get a new room to pick out.?
