How's this for random?

I realized around 7PM that I was smelling something funny in my house.  My allergies don't usually allow me to smell much but I'd just used my Afrin and suddenly could smell smoke.

So I got to the stove... it was left on by my roommate!!!  The flame had gone out and the house had filled with gas and I hadn't noticed becasue I'm so congested from my allergies.

And now SDGE is taking FOREVER to get here... I've been sitting outside for three hours now with the animals waiting for them.  Ugh!

Re: How's this for random?

  • Wow, that sucks.  I'm glad you noticed something was up.

When I was in college I had a roommate who liked to talk on the phone while cooking dinner and after she had cooked one evening and then locked herself back in her room (that's another story) I smelled smoke and she had left a frying pan and a wooden spoon in the pan with the flame still on.  I'm surprised she didn't burn down our apartment.

  • That's exactly what my roommate does!!!!!

And when she first moved in she would dump the grease from her food into a pan and then put the pan in the oven.  I'd then turn on said oven to cook my dinner and the house would smoke up with grease smoke!!!!  Who does that!?

  • ^^that is exactly why I do not cook Smile
