MoroccoJade: re ECg the newborn

Hi Jade, just wanted to let you know about how things are going on here with Jeremy and ECg him. of course the first words that come to mind are slow and inconsistent, but I've still had some successes that I wanted to share.

on his 3rd day (we were home), I left him diaper free for some time. he peed on me 3 times, and I didn't always get the ssss sound out, but I just wanted to watch him. and apparently he poo'd on my MIL too (I wasn't around for that one). so on day 4, I was changing his diaper, and brought him to the bathroom sink and did the sss sound. maybe only for 30 seconds, and sure enough he peed and pood, I was beyond thrilled, let me tell you!

since then, I've only held him over the sink a few times, most times with success. I ususally change his wet/soiled diaper, and let him go diaper free (or hold the old or a new diaper under him open), and whenever I see him pee or poo I make the sound. I've held a bowl under him a few times... with some good success. even DH has too, and been successful.

However, in the last few days/nights we haven't done it much. exhaustion has come over both of us, and I'm not being so consistent. I need to buy a bowl exclusively for this and I haven't had time yet. so when I do do it, its mostly just him over an open diaper and me doing the sound when I see him pee. I'm not noticing many cues yet, but instinct has come into play.

anyways, just thought I would share. from books I've read, starting early and having to stop is just fine... I hope once we get more sleep, we'll both be more eager to do this.
