Has the STL board become the realty board?

I get that people are desperately trying to sell their homes, but putting full house listings and links to listings is considered soliciting and against nest policies! I am not going to nark anyone out, but seriously I think it is getting out of hand!

Recs. for salons, obgyn, dentist... is different. It is a recommendation for a service or business that they are not the owners of and are not profiting from by making the recommendation. I think trying to sell your house on the other hand is soliciting, as it is your house that you are trying to sell/profit from. Regardless of how dead this board is, it is still against The Nest policies!

To add to that, if you notice the 2 most recent people, are newbies and have less than 10 posts total. Seems kinda fishy to me. Back in my Knottie days, we would get wedding vendors posting posing as knotties. I would not put it past Realtor$ to do the same on this board.

well speaking from a TRUE BRIDE... it extremely difficult market out there. My house has been for sale since November.  This happens to be a great place to reach out to other people who are in similar situations---- know someone who is moving here, or maybe living elsewhere and moving after their wedding to a new city. 

 I understand what you are saying about fishy, but come on, some of us are for real.  Why be so suspcious of everyone? And as far as profit goes... um, really?  NO.  In fact even if I sell my house at the listing price, I'm still going to end up paying out of pocket to cover it.

Some of us aren't lucky enough to be in a position to not grasp at straws to figure out something!!  So EXCUSE ME for reaching out to people that might actually be looking for a house.  I don't think TWO posts exactly indicate a realty board.

I am not trying to be snarky, but there have been more than 2 posts. If it continues it could get out of hand. One person may say well since she is soliciting her house, I am going to solicit my Mary Kay, Avon, Pampered Chef or whatever. As I previously stated, it IS also against nest policies. It is not my rules, it is theirs. It is people such as yourself, that try to bend the rules to fit their needs and ruin it for long timers such as myself when the nest finds out and decides to take action. As I also stated, I understand your needing to sell your home, I feel for you, really I do, but they have a link for Realtor.com especially for locals looking for homes. I am sure your home is listed in there as well ... The Nest - Real Estate.

I removed my post.  You all Win.  However, in my opinion, are you going to jump all over anyone that says that they have a wedding dress for sale, or decoration crap or whatever left over from their weddings? 

Whatever, I hope this board is boring, stays boring and everyone else stays away.  I'm not selling mary kay, avon, or anything like that--- hello, that is a BUSINESS.... I'm not selling this as a BUSINESS.... it's something I own, that I do not want to own any more.

i don't understand why it's such a big deal.  This board is DEAD, so if i see a post that doesn't interest me, I just don't read it.  I'm far from offended by it.  Post anything on here, doesn't bother me.  If i'm not interested, i won't read it or respond.

i will add that i've found my wonderful OBGYN, dermatologist and dentist from recommendations on this board and would never have found them otherwise...so, i will continue to post for recommendations.  That's how i booked the majority of my vendors for my wedding....through recommendations.  So, THANK YOU girls for all your recommendations.

I'm sorry you felt I was jumping all over you, but you are not the only one. I am also the only one that said anything, so if you are upset with anyone, be upset with me. As for wedding gown sales, wedding decorations, most of the people on this board are already married. However if they were trying to sell anything I would say the same, as do I on the national boards when I see people trying to sell anything.

Ha, there's freakin' drama on the board. Shame on us Nolita. I am originally from Peoria, yes, but I live down here now. Unfortunately, people come here looking for recs, but won't stay and chat or hang out. Go look at some of the other boards-the philly board is a prime example, it's so busy all the time. I know at least 15 STL nesties from the national boards yet none of them come here.

It's great that some people have benefited from recommendations, but good grief, that's all that is ever on this board.

 

I know we are so bad! This board needed a lil action, I am proud to be one to put out! Thanks for giving it up too. Lol.

I used to be a weekday Random's regular on the Grand Rapid's board along with KY nestie 2carbuffs. What a great bunch of Nesties!  They took me in as their own. I'm not sure why I stopped posting there, but I miss it.

Precisely. And if the board is all recommendation posts, then post something else to talk about regarding St. Louis. You can't just not come to the board because its boring then complain that you're annoyed by what IS posted.

You stop coming to this board because its dead, but the board is dead because people stop coming to it.  Talk about Catch-22!

If someone is asking for a recommendation for a doctor, dentist, stylist, or whatever and they live in an area that my doctor, dentist or stylist is in I'll give them my recommendation and if not I just don't answer the post.  Again, I don't care what people post IMO it's an open forum and if I don't like a post or don't have anything to add to it then I don't.
