Anyone live IN Indianapolis? (jersey girl needs help)

I have a good friend who is moving there (from NJ) and I want to give her like a "care package" to take with her....like and Indianapolis theme.

SO are there any shops/places to eat/gifts I could get her that are in this category?  She is a runner and she isn't married with kids.....she is in her 40s. ANy thought?

TIA!

Re: Anyone live IN Indianapolis? (jersey girl needs help)

  • Do you know what "side" of town she is moving to, how old are her kids. I can help you think of ideas.

  • Hm, I would say something from the South Bend Chocolate Company/ The Best Chocolate in Town , tickets to the Indianapolis Zoo/Children's Museum,  a gift certificate to one of the stores in Broad Ripple -- with the running and the kids, I think she would really enjoy the area.

You'll also see the other cultural districts linked on that website.

Move along, nothing to see here.....
  • Hmm... well Indiana in general has lots of chain type resturants and shopping, etc... if you want stuff that is unique to Indiana and Indianapolis may I suggest (you can google all these to learn more);

    - St. Elmos Steakhouse

    - South Bend Chocolate Company

    - J.R. Waters (for running and outdoors stuff actually in Bloomington about 40 miles south of Indy but a nice drive)

    - Oliver Winery (ditto in Btown)

also do what Elisabeth said and check out shops in Broad Ripple and Mas. Ave.

  • thank you! I am going to check out a few of these!

    ?

I meant to say she DOESN'T have kids....(sorry) and I will have to find out which side of town she is moving too. I know she is by the canal? I think that is what she called it. Does that make sense?

    ?

    TIA?

  • Mama Carollas is a great local italian restaurant near Broadripple.  How about tickets to an Indians game (minor league baseball)?  Victory Field is great and they do fireworks as well after games.
  • If she's by the canal then she is downtown :)
