Just for fun - what was one of your wedding day bloopers?

It's inevitable no matter how well one plans something will go wrong on the wedding day. It's hard for me to choose just one, but I am going to say my blusher veil and the pesky wind. My wedding was outside and my veil would not stay put. See below picture of me, A.K.A. the flying nun.  Lol.

What was one of your wedding day bloopers? Or something that did not go according to plan?

  • Off-topic, but your dress is GORGEOUS!

I wouldn't say I have any bloopers, just things that didn't go as planned because my in-laws are inconsiderate.  Good topic though!

    Thank you! Smile
  • I messed our vows! The day before I don't remember if we agreed to say "yes" or "i do" but when we said them in the rehearsal I messed them up. So the priest jokingly said, okay fine we'll say them the way Jennie said.... and then the day of, I said them the way we were originally supposed to say them. That's right, I messed up a second time. The priest, and the entire wedding party started laughing...no one else got it. To this day, anytime we go to a wedding or see a wedding on TV dear husband has to remind me that I messed up our vows. Oops.
  • When we walked down a few stairs after lighting the unity candle I tripped over my feet.  I didn't fall down but I did lose my balance.
  • I put the ceramic Lladro cake topper on the cake right before we started the processional and it toppled down the cake and took all the frosting with it, including the frosting monogram (essentially the only decoration on the cake).  The entire room went silent and all heads turned towards me, I guess to see if I would flip out, and we laughed so hard we cried.  The photographer took a picture of my mom feeding me icing off the cake topper and a bridesmaid stealing some icing.

However, it ended up not being a disaster... I used to be a florist and decorated plenty of wedding cakes so I grabbed some extra flowers and plugged them into the cake.  It ended up being my dream cake because I always wanted flowers on it, but my husband wasn't a fan.  In the end he told me after seeing original pictures of the cake before I killed it that he should have trusted my design instinct in the first place.

I don't know how to put a picture in, but if someone tells me I can post a before and after shot.

  • My 2 nephews were junior groomsmen (they were 10 & 11 at the time) & walked down the aisle together.  When they got to the front, my one nephew went to the left (where the bridesmaids were).  When his dad got his attention & pointed him to the other side he said, "Oh shhh..." and ran over there.  From what I hear he said it kind of loud but didn't get the entire word out at least.
  • DH was getting ready and when he reached in his toiletry bag to get his razor he cut his ring finger.  We have several pictures that show his finger with a Band-Aid on it!!  I wish he would have remembered to take it off before the wedding, but he forgot.

    I agree, good topic!

  • We had three bloopers .

    1) I stupidly forgot to arrange a car for my DH (FI then) to go pick up his parents so he had to take my car. In turn I had to go to my parent's house to use my brother's huge truck, which is a stick, which I cannot drive. I got to my hair appointment but it was an interesting ride.

    2)  I got in the car with my dress on going to the ceremony and when I sat down the dress bumped up hitting me in my new lipsticked mouth leaving a nice red lip print on my dress right where my cleavage was.

    3) We were supposed to walk into the ceremony from outside but of course, it rained. we hadn't made an alternate plan. We got married in a hall and all of the doors to the outside rooms were locked except for two... for the mens and women's bathrooms. So...my entire wedding party gathered in the mens bathroom and waited for the ceremony to begin. My 4 small flower girls were extremely interested in the urinals. After they'd all walked down the aisle and it was just me and my dad I had to just laugh. 15 minutes before my wedding and never in a million years did I think I would be standing next to a urinal in my wedding gown with my father. Never.

  • The priest welcomed everyone to the wedding of Jessica and Jason.  DH's name is John.  I corrected him later on, so he started the homily by asking anyone named Jason to stand up and sorry that I wasn't marrying Jason today.  DH has a friend named Jason, but he wouldn't stand up.

Then, DH messed up our vows.  We read our vows off of the priest's cheat sheet that looked like this: I _____ take you _____ to be my husband/wife.  DH read, "I John take you Jessica to be my husband."  Everyone started laughing so hard!  DH asked the priest for a do-over, and he replied, "Sorry buddy; if I don't get one, you don't get one."

Our guest book is full of well wishes for Jason and his husband!  LOL!

  • Our florist was wonderful, but for some reason forgot to include the vases for the bridal bouquets. When we got there - there was nowhere to put them on the tables since each table had a centerpiece. So my dear friend brought over 5 frosty beer pilsner glasses and no one knew the difference! : )
  • I forgot to have music when my bridesmaids walked down the aisle.  We were married in a beautiful Catholic Cathedral church so it was just dead silence.  I didn't know until a year later when we watched our wedding video on our anniversary! LOL!
