Newbie with a Question! :)
Hi Ladies
My name is Patty... just got married two weeks ago.
Just wanted to introduce myself & ask a quick question about changing my last name. I'm not sure how to go about doing so? Do I first go to the license place? This is what I have heard... and then go to the Social Security office?
Thanks for any help you can give!
Hope to get to know you ladies soon enough.

First - congrats on your wedding and welcome the Nest!
In response to your question, first I filled out the form on the SS website and just mailed it in - my new card came in a few weeks later. I went to the DMV in the meantime with my marriage certificate and they issued me a new driver's license. Once I had my new license, I was easily able to change my bank cards, credit cards and everything else.
A word to the wise - you will need to order several certified copies of your marriage certificate from the clerk's office. You will need to send or take one to the SS office and some institutions (like FIU) require a copy to change your name. GL!
Congrats and welcome!
It's been a while, but ditto the pp's.

Thanks ladies!!
I'm off Wednesday, so I'll see if I take the advice of going to the SS office and then the DMV.
Appreciate all of your advice
