Where did you get your sofa/couch from? recommendation please?

We're finally ready to buy a sofa set and/or sectional and I am curious to know where everyone got their furniture from? We're still debating whether to go with a 3 piece set or a sectional. Anyone else had this problem? we have a split level house with a smaller living room space and a giant fire place in the middle of the living room....anyway...

So far I have checked out Macys, Mor, underhill, Dania and Furniture Jr and there are a couple of couches I like but I don't know anything about quality or prefence for any store. We have a 5 year old microfber couch from Underhill and it has held up pretty well but we need to get more furniture so if we have any company they don't have to sit on the floor....

So please share your experience/give me guidance!

Thank you guys!

Re: Where did you get your sofa/couch from? recommendation please?

  • We looked at Macy's, JC Penny, Ikea, Mohr, Lazy Boy, Seldan's, Thomasville, The Old Cannery Warehouse, and Broyhill. We went to several different Macy's locations because we noticed that some stores had stuff on the floor that others did not. We ended up buying a sofa and two reclining club chairs from the Macy's store in Tacoma. H wanted recliners, and I didn't want someting that looked like a recliner. We were lucky enough to find a compromise that ended up being comfortable too. They were nice, and delivery was quick. I liked a fabric on a different sofa, so they special ordered the sofa I wanted in the fabric I liked without any hassel.
  • I got a recommendation on this board a while back, for our couch.  We went everywhere and couldn't find anything.  Someone recommeded Sansaco and that is where we ended up finding what we where looking for.

It is not a fancy showroom, and you really have to look, as there is no rhyme or reason to how things are displayed. They put whatever they have wherever there is space.  I would recommend them, great price and great quality.

  • ah I woke close to Tukwilla and had not heard of Sansaco. I'll definitely check them out! thank you!
  • We got our couches from one of the many sales that the Old Cannery has. We found a lot that we liked and for the prices we couldnt beat it, and we ended up getting all of our furniture there for our new house.

  • We also have a split level house and I just did a really big couch, chair and a half and an ottoman in the family room. We got the couch, chair and ottoman all from Crate and Barrel and it was worth every penny. I love our couch so much.

Then a couch, 2 club chairs and an ottoman for the living room. The living room furniture was all mine that I bought when I was still in a condo and that came from Costco Home in Kirkland, but I think they're closed now.

However, I did get a coffee table from Sansaco (pp mentioned it) and I thought that place was a little disorganized, but their prices are awesome. If you have time to go look it's definitely worth it.

  • We bought our couch at Dania. It's 5 years old and has held up very well.
  • Definitely check out Sansaco!  That's where I got my last couch.

We recently bought a sectional at JR Furniture in Tukwila. It's made by Stanton and comes with a "no-excuses" guarantee.  They guarantee the construction AND the fabric forever. If anything ever goes wrong, they will come fix it or replace it. That made me feel better, knowing that my DH and his friends are messy people. :-)

  • We got our current sofa from Macy's?good experience, well made and we got the 7 year stain protection plan since we have pets. If you do buy from them wait until they have a sale which seems to be fairly often. I opened a Macy's account at the same time and got a discount as well for that. I think their prices are very good for the quality. The sofa we got is VERY similar to one at Crate and Barrel for much cheaper.

My previous sofa was from Dania and it was well made and looked nice until I got rid of last year.

  • I bought a occasional table of this kind http://www.javateakoutdoorfurniture.com/products/occasional-tables/, can be use for outdoor and indoor, now still in mint condition despite of over 2years now.
