As a native / someone who lives in the metro area...

* Where is one place that you dislike - that other St. Louisians enjoy going to?

* Where's one place that you have yet to visit, that always shocks others you've never been there?

Re: As a native / someone who lives in the metro area...

  • 1. Imos Pizza

    2. Well, I went to the city museum for the first time this summer, that always shocked people.  Other than that... I've never been to fairmont park.
  • 1. I'm not a fan of the casinos.  It's not like I really have anything against them it's just that I would rather use the money that I would spend at the casino and go shopping and be guaranteed to come home with something.

    2.  I've never been to the City Museum either and I've only seen the outside of it once.  Did you enjoy it?

  • 1) Spaghetti Factory.  I don't know, I just can't get into it.

    2) Hmm, I'm not sure.  Probably the clubs & a few restaurants downtown but I can't think of an example right now.

  • 1) Bars that charge expensive cover.

    2) The Casino Queen.  I've been out to the casino in St. Charles but I'm just not a gambler.

    Anniversary
  • 1.) The Arch

2.) I've never been to the The City Museum or Fairmont Park either. They both sound fun though.

  • 1.Imo's (So glad DH doesn't like it either)

    2.Fairmont Park

  • 1. Imo's / Cecil Whitaker's / Whitecastle.  Yuck.

    2. City Museum

  • 1. Ted Drewes. I prefer ice cream, not custard.

    2. Laumeier Sculpture Park.

Guys- go to Fairmount! Well, next summer. They had to close early this year because they ran out of money. It's so much fun!

  • FYI Fairmont Park may not re-open. Too bad if you have never been, it's a great time, especially Party at the Park on Friday's in the summer, but it is fun year-round.

1). Six Flags. Haven't been since I was 18 - and that was just to impress my now dh and before we lived here. I have zero interest in going to a theme park.

2). There aren't any typical STL places we haven't been, but one that dh and I haven't done since either of us were over the age of 8 is the Arch. I think we both did it on "family vacations" (seperately of course) but we haven't been in such a time frame that we remember it very clearly.

  • 1. The Hill. I just haven't really ever had a meal there that I liked that much of felt lived up to the hype.

    2. Grant's Farm. Or the Jewel Box. Or the Butterfly House. Or City Museum. Or any museum here, really! I've only been here six years, I'll get there!!

  • 1. Another vote AGAINST Imos and White Castle.

    2. Old Courthouse (Usually kids see this on a field trip, but we never went!)

And fyi, previous poster who does not like the Hill, WTF!? (I say this in the most thoughtful way possible, of course.)  Please PLEASE try places like Guidos (AMAZING Spanish tapas, pasta, pizza) and Favazza's.  Really TRULY good food!

I know, I know...it's sacrilege around here to not like the Hill. I do like Modesto (tapas) and I'll give Guido's a shot. I've been to Zia's, Cunnetto's, and Favazza's and have not cared for my meals at any of those places. I do like the occasional sandwich from Amighetti's and I love getting sausage from Volpi.

I just don't think the Hill is my kind of Italian pasta. It's okay, I'm just difficult - I grew up in the south and was the only person I knew that drank un-sweet tea. Oh well.

Probably the Loop.  I went there twice, meh, don't need to go back.

    City Museum!
