Boo, Hiss...

Ladies,

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself (pathetic, I know) so I just thought I'd tell you about it.

This weekend, I think I either pulled something in my quads/hamstrings or hurt some weird muscle called the piriformis. I now have these strange pangs in my butt (literally) calves, and a bit of tingling in starting in my foot. From some magic on google I figured out it's probably my piriformis. (I'd never even heard of it before.)

I think I should probably go to the doctor from what I've read about it, but I feel silly spending the time and money for a recreational running injury. Maybe it will go away:) I will probably need to back off on the running for awhile, which might mean no half marathon.

Now, I should probably call the doctor and see if I can get in soon. Thanks for listening to my little vent:)

Re: Boo, Hiss...

  • Well I know going to the Dr sucks, but you should go if you continue to have the problem. Just take it easy for a few days and see if your symtoms persist or if it heals on it's own.... If you cant get into your Dr. are there any Urgent Care Centers near by? We see lots of back/leg/knee/ankle injuries. We can do xrays, but usually have to refer out for MRI's and suck. Atleast if you can get into an Urgent care they maybe able to do an xray onsite instead of sending you out somewhere for one. G/L!

  • Thanks Jena!! I'll have to let you know how it goes. I do work across the street from a hospital/ clinic complex, so I should be able to work it in this week if I try.

Just now, my whole left foot has gone completely numb so I think I may have to deal with this. Crap. I am officially accident-prone.

  • Lisa, I'm sorry you're in pain :-(

An injury is an injury, regardless of how it came about.  Go see your doctor and, if you can, get an appointment with a Physiatrist in the area (physical medicine and rehab).  They specialize in muscular-skelatal injury and rehabilitation.
