Re: How was your weekend?
Saturday I went to the farmer's market with a friend, mowed the front lawn, walked the dogs, and then sat on my a$$ bored.
Sunday I ran some errands and then worked on a project for K.
I love my alone time and having the house to myself but I was amazed at how bored I was without K around this weekend. That's really not like me and when I told her she laughed. But she also said that when she went out to dinner this weekend with people from the conference she talked alot about me. Guess that makes us officially and old, boring, married couple
Our weekend was pretty good! It would have been nicer if the temperature outside was a least ten degrees lower. On Saturday, we went to DMV to change the names on our driver's license, only to find out we have to do the Social Security paperwork first (so that is our task for this week). Afterward we stopped by 7-11 because we forgot to bring a bottle of water with us for C...have to keep her hydrated! I was LUCKY, she 'allowed' me to buy a Red Bull (my morning could have stopped there and I would have been happy...SMILE). Following 7-11 we went to Target and stocked up on all the necessary items, which included a ton of breakfast bars (we both eat different brands). I tried to sneak a couple of pair of jeans in the basket, but guilt overcame me. I need to quickly learn that we need to save for 2 babies. After we got home, C took a nap and I got on the computer in an attempt to muster the energy to work on my darn dissertation; needless to say, it did not work.
Sunday we went to church (as usual), and we had lunch with our 'Boyz.' They are our favorite couple! We went to the National Harbor and enjoyed lunch at a fancy Mexican restaurant...where the chili is HOT! It wasn't the best lunch, but it wasn't the worst either. Following lunch we walked around in the hot sun and then called it a day. We had parked at their house so we had to go and pick up the car. We stopped by Rite Aid to pick up some water for C and after begging and promising to work on my dissertation I was allowed another Red Bull. (Two Red Bulls in one weekend...yes!)
C is the driver in the family, so I was surprised when she pulled over and asked me to please drive...she had figuratively hit the wall. I drove (listening to my favorite 80's tunes) while she leaned back and rested. When we got home she quickly retired to bed and as I promised, I began to work on my dissertation.
I could go into more detail about trying to decide meals and working around nausea, but I am sure I have written enough
.
Friday - One of our friends surprised us by offering to babysit while we went to a movie. We went to the 7:30 showing of Julie and Julia. It was really cute and funny and was so nice to be out in the evening - alone. Sadly, I was too tired to go out for dessert/drinks afterward.
Saturday - Went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and then Sandy Point State Park to go to the beach (45 minutes from our house.) 5 minutes after we got there, Grayson started asking to go home. He asked the entire 45 minutes we stayed. Nap was a bust since they fell asleep the last 15 minutes of the trip home. We went to Babies R Us and bought toddler beds (I know they aren't a long term investment - but they have been talking about "big boy beds" and we can't fit 2 twin beds in their room and I am not ready to do bunk beds.) Went to for Mexican for dinner and to let the kids play in the spray fountain. After 2 seconds - just enough to get soaked -they decided that was enough. Sigh.
Sunday - Got in the car to leave to do breakfast/errands and realized the van had a flat tire. L and the boys headed out in her truck while I waited for AAA. Went to Costco for a new tire and another $150 of food...ugh. L took the boys to the pool while I got ready for guests. We had a few friends over, grilled out and hung out till 7. Got the boys to bed and crashed not long after.
We still haven't gotten their cribs disassembled and the toddler bed put together. I am not sure when we'll have time - until next weekend. Which is sad b/c it is the first thing that they ask in the morning.
It is too hot here. MUCH too hot.
it is beastly hot, and even worse it is insanely humid. makes it hard to breathe properly. i had to turn the a/c on in my car on the way TO work for the first time in i don't know how long.
we had an up and down weekend. we had a nice time on friday going to see the new house of a couple we know and then had dinner with them at the japanese steakhouse.
saturday was the family thing. not so fun. we went to the house of another couple we know after, getting there just in time to say goodnight to their son. he gave me a big hug and told me all about the trouble he had gotten himself into that week, then told c that she was "handsomer" than him before giving her a hug and heading up. we had a few drinks (well, my wife didn't, of course, but the rest of us did) and just hung out and chatted to unwind.
yesterday we got a lot of errands run and did a bunch of things around the house, so it was really productive. we also stopped for lunch of sandwiches, salad (for her) and homemade potato chips (for me), and frozen custard while we were out. the custard was sooooo good with all the heat and humidity that moved in. we also decided to get a chocolate mousse pie out of the freezer for a little after-dinner treat.
weekend was great...got to relax which was very nice.
im in texas...its been beastly hot for months!!!
ooo, i'm dying for an excuse to make that cake! let me know how it comes out!!
as for the anty muffins, i wrap my cookies like a crazy person...first tightly in plastic wrap, then in tin foil, then place them in big zip locs. And then they go into the box with crinkled newspaper and I cover every inch of the box with packaging tape. so if any ants make it into my packages, I'd be amazed. of course its also a wonder any humans can get into it either :P

We had the annual Hot Air Balloon Festival....with the THREE nephews in tow. It was fun and crazy.
Is it beastly hot where you are???
Ummm....Louisiana = HOT
CTB- The cakes are out of the oven and the frosting is in the fridge. I tasted a little cake-flake and Oh my Gawd. The I licked the mixer-paddle after making the frosting and Oh MY GAAAAAAAAWD. I think my head might explode when actuallly tasting them together. Find a reason to make this cake SOON!
Skeezon- Hi! Hot Air Baloons are so cool!! Did you ride in one? Or is it a watching-only kind of thing? I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to get in one
