advertising advice?

Hey guys-

I live in Allen, TX and am trying to get my name out there to give some piano/voice lessons from my home to kids.  Any advice on how to go about advertising would be much appreciated.  I can't really find places to post a flyer around here...so...  Thanks a bunch!

Re: advertising advice?

  • I'm not sure if it's allowed or not, but can you call your local public schools and find out if they allow or have an area where you could post a flyer with your info?  Same thing with local YMCAs or recreational centers.  I'd also contact piano or music stores and see if you could bring some cards by, I know I've seen that done before.  If you attend church services do they have a weekly newsletter that you can advertise in?  My church does this.  Good luck!

  • Do you live in a neighborhood with a Home Owner's Association?  Our little newsletter has a section for ads for babysitting, guitar, personal trainers, etc.

  • yes/ thanks- I'll check!
  • I'd give some of the elementary school music teachers a call too. If they don't do this on their own, I'm sure parents use them as a resource to find private teachers.

  • call local cities and see if they would be interested in hiring a piano teacher for the rec centers.
I know Plano has piano lessons and ALWAYS are looking for teachers.
  • Public libraries and grocery stores often have boards public can post on as well as colleges - at each place you usually need approval from mgt. before doing so.

Craigslist.  Care.com has tutoring information (I found my nannying job on there) - maybe you could post there?

If you had money maybe a local sports or theatre program which targets a lot of parents.

    Good luck!
