Speaking of 24 Hour Fitness, question

I'm thinking of dumping Bally's for 24.  Anyone have any 24 complaints?  I went to a 24 SET class today and it was comparable to a class at Bally's.  Before I switch I thought I'd ask here.  I wish they didn't require you to pay 3 years upfront though!  The month to month is too expensive.

Re: Speaking of 24 Hour Fitness, question

  • You can also see if your work or your H's work has a corporate discount - makes it a bit more affordable. My work has an option with no enrollment and $19 a month. However, when averaged out, the three year deal can be better and then you have super duper cheap renewals.

My only complaint is that they can be crowded duing peak hours (right after work) and that the classes never seem to fit with my schedule. But they are everywhere so that makes it convenient.

  • I love my local 24 hour.  I have to say that I've been to a few that needed some major renovating and were old and gross.  But if you have access to a newer one, that's great.  I love a lot of their group classes and the ones I go to have newer cardio machines.

Paying 3 years up front is pricey but the cheaper annual renewal fee once the 3 years is up makes it worth it - IF you plan on using the membership.

  • Unfortunately, neither one of our employers has a deal with them.  The 3 year deal is a reasonable per month cost, it is just hard for me to cough up 549.99 all at one time.  Tongue Tied  I lucked out though, their exercise classes fit perfectly in my schedule.  I'm using a 7 day guest pass this week, maybe I will just pull the $$$ out of savings.
  • What is the difference between regular step and step jam 24?
  • I haven't been to a step class in forever.  My guess is that step jam is probably more dance-y?  Ajones goes to step, maybe she will chime in.

Are you a member of Costco?  I remember just recently seeing a package at Costco for 24 Hour Fitness.  I think it was around $300?  For 2 years?  I looked online but couldn't find it but maybe your local Costco has it.

  • 10Years, I've never met you but I LOVE YOU!  You just saved me $$$!

  • I <3 24 hour fitness. I used to live at the one in orange by In-N-Out in high school and early college. The only reason I canceled my membership is because there weren't enough locations that were open 24 hours in the La Verne area.
  • I don't know if you or your DH travel out of CA at all, but my DH upgraded us out of state when he was working, and it is sooooo much cheaper.  CA has one of the hightest rates.
  • I do take step, but I'm not a member of 24. My guess is that step jam would be more dance-based, like 10yt suggested. Have fun :)
