Intro & wedding advice

Hi Ladies, I wanted to introduce myself. I've lurked on here a little, but mostly stuck to the Pets board and the DFW knot board.

I currently live in Dallas with my dog (see below) and I'm newly engaged. I'm hoping ya'll might have some advice because ya'll have already been through your wedding.

My FI and I are about 80% postitive we are getting married at the Cathedral Guadalupe in downtown Dallas. I have a decent budget from my parents, but I'd hazard to say it's not as large as some Dallas weddings can be. As much as I'd like to have the reception near the church and downtown I think they are all going to be too pricey.

Do ya'll have any recs from your weddings or weddings you've been to in Dallas, maybe receptions in Addison or North Dallas area? What about Las Colinas? Or if you know some great venues for you money near downtown even better!!

Thanks in advance ladies! I look forward to knowing ya'll better!

Re: Intro & wedding advice

  • No advice because I got married out in the suburbs, but just wanted to give you a Guns up! :)

  • haha! thanks! I'm afraid I might miss most of this football season as we're planning a quicker wedding in January. I'll try to fit it in somehow...planning in the morning games in the evening!

Also, forgot to mention our invites are going to be around 260 people and my mom is figuring (hoping) closer to just over  200 or so.

  • I had my reception in downtown Dallas. My place was great for the budget. It is called the Dallas Arts Center. They provide free of charge tables and chairs and some decor options. Here is the website: http://www.specialdayeventsinc.com/

Even if you don't end up going with the Dallas Arts Center look for places that allow outside vendors for alcohol and catering. We were able to bring in our own alcohol and we did our catering through Black Eyed Pea. Black Eyed Pea was amazing. The food and service were great. Nobody knew that it was Black Eyed Pea.
  • Thank you that's a great option! And I hadn't heard of it yet. I had looked at some of these HSA but didn't realize they let you bring your own alcohol which can save a ton! And makes their venue price not so scary.
  • Hello there fellow Red Raider! image

We were married at the Cathedral 4 years ago!

I agree w/ a p/p about the Dallas Arts Center, especially because they provide the tables, chairs, and linens as part of the price.

Feel free to send me an email bianca.renee at gmail.

  • I got married and had my reception downtown.  If you check my knot bio you'll find the information on all of my vendors.

  • We had our reception at Ciy Place which is a building at roughly 75 and Lemmon/Haskell? It was way cheaper then any of the down town buildings and had a gorgeous view. This was 3 1/2 years ago though.

ETA: that should have been City* place

Welcome!!  I am planning a wedding too... but it's in Maui, so I am no help.  Just wanted to say hello and throw up another gun in here... Wreck 'em...

  • I'm loving all the Red Raiders here!
  • image here too.

I'm throwing a private party and we wanted the cheapest option Dallas has to offer that is still  a nice venue. We found this place http://thisisspace.com/rent They have a large upstairs event room bring in your own everything (Food, alcohol, tables etc..) they also have a downstairs for cocktail receptions, depending on what artist is using the art galary.

  • I *think* that you have to go to the knot and search my screen name there for my knot bio as my nest bio is blank.  Anyway, we got married at First Baptist downtown and had the reception at City Club which was amazing.  City Club is on the top floor of the Bank of America building and has great food and service and fabulous views.  Our rehearsal dinner was at the Campisi's location downtown and our guests stayed at the Magnolia.  I'd recommend all of these!

  • I'm late on this, but we recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Old Red Courthouse downtown.  It was fantastic and they were awesome to work with.  We also had really amazing vendors--if you don't have a photographer, I recommend Laura Parker with Fairy Tale Photography.  Our pics were stunning.  GL planning!

    Blessed.
