WDYT? Clicky Poll

I'm flirting with the idea of having a candy bar at A's 30th bday party....but i can get obsessed with party planning and have known to go overboard at times. So, we're trying to keep this simple, but fun.  The party will be uber casual, daytime, at a park, Moe's (mexican) catering, with plenty of chit chat/horseshoes/softball/swimming/ect.  What do you think about adding a candy bar?

FWIW: cost isnt an issue since its a smallish party and I'll use containers i already have and stick with just a few different types of candy.

Re: WDYT? Clicky Poll

  • My main concern would be heat and melting issue. If the park has plenty of shade and you could keep stuff cool until you put it out then go for it. But if not you might have a chocolate mess on your hands.

  • Like Two, I thought of melting!  If you have an anti-melt plan, I think it would be nice, with containers you already have and a small assortment of candy.

  • oh yes, i definitely thought of melting! I'd limit the chocolate, probably just m&ms, and keep it all in a cooler until right before the end of the party.

    thanks for the feedback!!

  • Oh, see, I didn't even think of melting, and just assumed it'd be mostly non-meltable candies. But of course you have to have chocolate!

It might not be bad to toss some nuts into one jar, just in case you have people there who can't indulge in sweets...

And I don't know what you're planning for containers for the party guests, but something that could be sharpie'd with the person's name could be good... depending on how early you put it out (i.e. if it is before people are headed out, they might make a bag/cup and set it down and forget it's theirs).

    Neat idea!!
